Re: Netflix movies worth watching
Few recent watches -
Iron Lady with Meryl Streep as MT. Is a good 1 hour film showing all the events in Margaret Thatchers life and career but is stretched to 2 hours with all the scenes of old MT hallucinating about her Husband Denis arguing with her. if that part is removed, it is quite good. Brekaway - Kannedian version of 'Bend it like Beckham'. Only here, it is a boy who is strugling and Anupam Kher is now the discouraging dad. encouragement is from one Uncle and Russel Peter in a small role is repeating his stand up dialogues (i searched for him and landed up on this one) Madras Cafe - Must have been scripted by Shruti Tai/pai. It blames Rajiv Gandhi's assasination on a leak within RAW in connivance with some 'western powers' who want to have a say in building a port at Trincomalee. THere is a bit of Nargis Fakhri, but not showing much skin. You could also check on a BBC series called "coupling". Somewhat like f.r.i.e.n.d.s, but i found myself laughing more here. There is more talk abot sex and one full episode on 'Size does matter'

Re: Netflix movies worth watching
There are very few good movies worth watching on Netflix streaming.. You can't do more than 2-3 months.
I get 5-6 movies from Redbox every month.. enough to catch up the recent good ones. I watched Non-Stop starring Liam Neeson y'day .. good action thriller as expected from Liam which should be declared a genre now. ![]() btw, a 62 yr old making action movies and still able to carry it off.. commendable. Salman, Akshay, SRK and Devgan still have hope. ![]() Quote:

Re: Netflix movies worth watching
Boss
*ing Akshay Kumar Mithun Da and Ronit Roy as the villain. It seems to have been lifted from a Gult movie like Rowdy Rathore. Only it is totally insane. Like a cult classic. So ridiculous that either you laugh at it or stop watching if it ets on your nerves. I still havent watched all of it. But a few highlights -The titles roll 35 minutes after the movie starts. -Mithun da impresses (likes of me that is) - So does Ronit Roy as the villain. His character believes in the motto attibuted to Stalin, "One man one Problem, No Man No Problem" - There is some other Cyappa like calling a truck gifted by sister as "Behen ki Lorry" Now, i figured out i have a certian quots for Cyappa at one go. So will watch this in phases.

The final fight is actually poor man's Dabangg fight. if you are on to some one your face insanity, this is OK. Now, there is another one which truly lives up to its name - total Siyappa. A pakistani guy loves an Indian girl in London. he gets arrested when he tells his girlfriend "Bomb" when she asked him what gift he is getting for her folks. When she introduces him to her family, they come to terms with his being peaceful, but start abusing paks left right and center. Thats about 30 minutes into the movie after 2 songs that i fast forwarded. It is here that is decided that i had enough of this. this is meant for those who love "Love Jihad" and all the mushy movies. the top one i can think of is Sonia,,, The leading lady plays aTV anchor, who aspires to become the Barkha Dutt of London by actually practising secularism instead of merely preaching it.

Re: Netflix movies worth watching
Was very disheartened recently. Saw 2 hindi movies and was disappointed in both.
First, Is raat ki subah nahi. This was a movie near the top of my list of over 700 movies to watch. Many a friend had recommended this one... first-class movie and all. I never had my nerves jarred more than when watching this movie (well, maybe not as much as 'Lost in Translation'... but nearly close). This movie was everything bad... bad acting (hamming mostly), bad direction, bad script, bad scenes, bad characterization, bad what not. Even the music could be called bad except for one song. The whole movie I kept asking why... why. Every scene. And to see the list of stalwart actors... it was shameful. Second, Besharam. Movie started off with a bang... and I was enjoying the movie till the hero asks the heroine to go with him to get her stolen car back. Why ![]() ![]()

Re: Netflix movies worth watching
Catching up on Rocky Series. the movies are OK, but a bit slow. And they seem to have inspired all the bollywood movies where the hero gets beaten first and then bashes up the villiain.
Also dared to watch Yamla Pagla Deewana 2. Totally whacky, this movie makes David Dhawan movies look like realistic masterpieces. You will either laugh or get a headache. the 'Scriptwriter' also seems to be a chimp.
