Just a quick news clip, in case you guys have not seen it. Gives warning signal. What do you think India should do ? Dont you think its best to have a combing operation and finish of this drama :

Red alert at Red Fort

New Delhi, August 14, 2000: Unprecedented security measures have been taken in the capital on the eve of the millennium's first Independence Day with the Indian Air Force permitted to shoot down any aircraft or flying object violating the air space restrictions to be enforced on Tuesday.

The space restrictions come in the wake of intelligence reports that the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI might use unmanned aerial vehicles to cause disturbances, official sources said on Monday. It would remain in force until the function at the Red Fort, from where Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would address the nation, was over.

Report from Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir said hardline Kashmiri guerrilla groups have threatened to launch "massive attacks" against Indian forces in Kashmir on Tuesday to demand its freedom from India.

"Our mujahideen will launch massive and fierce attacks on the military concentrations in Kashmir to turn India's Independence Day into destruction day," Harkatul Mujahideen spokesman Amiruddin Mughal said. He said the operations would target army camps and convoys "to make it clear to New Delhi that none of its installations and troopers in Kashmir are safe at the hands of the mujahideen."

A spokesman for the Lashkar-e-Taiba group said suicide squads had been assigned missions to sabotage the Independence Day celebrations and attack troops and military installations. "We will give a big surprise for India on her Independence Day, notwithstanding the tight security arrangements on the part of New Delhi," the spokesman, who identified himself as Habibullah, said. "India's security arrangements are not a point of concern for us. We can attack any of their camps anytime and we have proved it in the past."

Security has been tightened in Kashmir in the wake of intelligence reports that militants in police uniform might try to create disturbances.

Consequently, no armed bodyguards, except those of Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, will be allowed for Tuesday’s Independence Day function at Bakshi stadium in Srinagar. Official sources said all VIPs and top security officers would leave their escorts outside the stadium where a three-tier security ring had been formed to prevent any militant attack.

In Delhi, intelligence inputs also cautioned against attacks from Sikh militants, LTTE and ultras of the North-East. Hence, anti-sabotage teams from Army and para-military forces have been pressed into service to assist the Delhi police in maintaining tight security.

Angry So sad to see...

It is so sad and unfortunate that we Indians cannot celebrate our own Independence Day without fear of terrorist activities. To an extent we are to blame for this, some reasons being our soft stance with Pakistan and the Kashmir issue over the years, failure of our intelligence agencies in the past and intelligence goof ups that happen evry other day (like Kargil) and many more factors.

This may sound radical and barbaric but then that is the way to deal with militants. We should publicly hang the arrested terrorists from atop the Red Fort on 15th August and broadcast it live. This will tell Pakistan and its militant supporters that India is serious about militancy and that we have a zero tolerance policy towards terrorist acts!

Atleast, some of the future militants will have the fear of harsh punishment instilled in them before they raise a crroked eye at our India!

Angry Re: So sad to see...

i agree with the administrator. indian govt has to just take a decision & do it.we have the example of israel sitting in the middle of all hostile neighbours. the neighbours are actually scared of israel even if they have the majority on their side...why? israel has taken certain strongst policy desns pertaining to terrorism. no mercy, military option are the key words.their secret service agency mossad has instilled such a fear in terrorists around the world that no one would dare to actually touch a jew. i remember an incidence when a group of 9 travellers in kashmir were abducted by the militia. after a lot of talk & negotiations indian govt could not reach a settlement, thats where mossad voluteered to participate. voila...!!! the 9 israelies were set free unconditionally. i dont know where do our raw & other agencies stand today. apart from little unrests in sindh & baloch provinces of pakistan & supporting mohajirs at karachi/islamabad no effective sabotage work is being carried out. these agencies have to gear up & start messing around in pakistan & i am sure it will be tit for tat ! why should pakistan which will be a little bigger than maharashtra have guts to look into eye of a nation of 100 crores ? we are known as "sahishnus"i.e our tolerence levels are very high ...but not this high that innocent citizens go on getting killed, fake currency does rounds screwing up the economy, expenditure on terrorist related work goes on escalating...LEADERS OF INDIA WAKE UP & TEACH PAKISTAN A LESSON...before the terrorists reamend the geography of india & peace becomes just another word.
