Modi is nothing more than tourist Prime Minister: Kharge

Atleast Modi is on business tour, bringing back home the future,Where were they when President Prathibha Patil was touring with her relatives with 2 extra planes ? And MMS visiting like a deaf and mute PM ?

Modi is nothing more than tourist Prime Minister: Kharge

BENGALURU: Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leader of Congress party in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun M Kharge on Wednesday said the former was nothing more than a "tourist PM."

"In his one year and four months tenure, Modi has visited 25 countries. Instead of debating and resolving issues at home, he has been travelling abroad and bad mouthing the opposition on international platform. He is defaming the country and the 125 crore citizens of the nation," Kharge told reporters here.

Kharge taunted Modi for speaking hours together at international events, while at the same time being unavailable in the Parliament when adjournment motions were moved by the opposition in the Lok Sabha to discuss important issues. Denying that the Congress was stalling important pieces of legislation, Kharge said Modi as Gujarat CM was the first to stall the Goods and Services Tax (GST) bill, the Land Acquisition Bill and the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) regulations bill.

"During the 15th Lok Sabha, 357 days of the five years were dedicated for the Parliament session. 1,380 hours were dedicated for debates. Of this, the BJP disrupted 890 hours, almost 60 per cent of the time allotted for debates. We need not learn from the BJP on disruptions, when they were at the fore front of it and justifying that disruptions were necessary in a democracy to emphasis a point," he said.

Kharge reiterated that the Congress was demanding the resignation of external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on moral grounds after it was proved that she had helped an economic offender. "Based on credible evidence that Lalit Modi was helped by the BJP, not because of humanitarian grounds but for continuous relationship of 20 years with Modi, we demanded the resignation of the minister on moral grounds," he said.

Re: Modi is nothing more than tourist Prime Minister: Kharge

First of all, nobody has ever resigned on moral grounds, and this cannot be forced. Next Congress will demand that all Indian batsmen walk when they know they have knicked the ball.

Kharge should first resign on moral grounds, on corruption grounds, on disproportionate assets grounds.

Quote:
Kharge faces disproportionate assets inquiry

A Lokayukta complaint accuses him of illegal appointments during tenure as Karnataka minister.

The complaint refers to the period from 1980, when Kharge was Revenue Minister in Karnataka, to the 2008 Assembly elections. "Kharge is the richest Dalit leader in the country," the complaint says, alleging that he owns properties worth Rs 50,000 cr.

Re: Modi is nothing more than tourist Prime Minister: Kharge

Had Modi shown some spine, established the writ of the Govt during recent scams, I would not have paid much attention to what Congress says viz a viz his foreign travels, Congress's track record has been pathetic. Modi is one of the very few Indian politicians who has some administrative experience.

Doesn't mean the end result should have been resignation of 2 CMs and a minister only. The problem is Govt was not sincere, they didn't come clean and level with the people instead of poly-ticking.

Rahul talks about loongi pyazama sarkar after having gone to abroad for medical treatment when they could have easily got the world class treatment right in Delhi. They don't even trust Rajiv/Indira Gandhi hospitals. Poor entitled Gandhis go to Europe every few months, 58 days leave in Thailand in middle of a parliament session. They have no locus standi to talk about any of this, period. Modi is not going to Bang-kok to get some servicing done.

Some marketing, showman ship is necessary to enhance your image abroad to ultimately uplift people from poverty within your own country, but too much of hot air is also not good, it needs to be backed up by some substance. Where is the ease of doing business? What happened to swatch bharat?

Re: Modi is nothing more than tourist Prime Minister: Kharge

For all the Modi doubters

Full Speech: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha (05:30)
This is a reply by Sh. Narendra Modi itself. You will be surprised to know that when countries like the U.S. has its leaders abstaining from talking on stem cell research. Modi who is just a Chaiwala, is searching the nooks and corners of the earth to bring research collaborations in this field. So if Indian Researchers cure Cancer tomorrow using stem cell, the world will be thankful to us for eternity.

Now, a more elaborate response explaining his foreign trips. I will exclude his trips to BRICS, Asean Summit, G-20 or UN General Assembly because it's a binding duty for the Prime Minister to attend these anyways.

16th - 17th June'2014 : State Visit : Bhutan

What he gave and why?
China had been tying closer relations to Bhutan and increasing insurgency in the North - Eastern states in India. This was heavily impacting the lives of the people living in these states as well the tourism potential. Also, strategically at most locations on Indo-China border Indian Army holds position of geographical disadvantage. An access to plateau top through Bhutan has always been a part of Indian army war games, a friendly Bhutan will always make it easier for India to put such plans into action at the time of Sino-India confrontation.

1. Modi signed a free trade agreement with Bhutan, exempting their goods from taxes. So, he basically gave them an advantageous access to Indian Markets.
2. Scholarships worth Rs. 2 crore to Bhutanese Students coming to India for higher studies.

What he got back?
1. A promise from the Bhutanese that they would ensure that they are not party to the insurgency efforts.
2. Co-Development of 600MW Kholongchu Hydro-electric project which would help India provide power to its north-eastern states.
3. Talented Bhutanese students would come to India and increase our talented human resource base.

3rd - 4th August'2014 : State Visit : Nepal

What he gave and why?
Firstly he gave an address at the Nepali Parliament where he said that India has no interest in meddling with Nepal's foreign or internal affairs. The 1950's India - Nepal Friendship Treaty had said that, Nepal has to take India's permission in military and foreign policy matters. This was used over and over by Nepali Politicians to stir an anti-India sentiment. Even though India was spending million of dollars in assisting Nepal in sectors of education, healthcare, power and others. With this statement, Modi ended that perception of India being the hegemonic meddler in Nepal without having to do much.
This was done to keep a check on growing Chinese Influence in Nepal and make Nepal an ally.

What he got back?
1. Trust of the Nepali political community regarding India's goodwill in helping Nepal
2. Hydel Power Projects which will help India in its power needs and be beneficial to Nepal in generating revenue.

For more details on how this foreign visit was necessary. Check Page on www.narendramodi.in

30th August - 3rd September' 2014: State Visit : Japan

Why he went and what he got?

1. Following our 1999 nuclear tests, Japan had banned several Indian Companies. Modi got this ban lifted which allows Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (manufacturers of Tejas Aircraft), along with 6 other Indian companies, to now work with Japanese firms and do research.
2. Japan promised net $34 billion dollar investment to India. This will create jobs, which will increase middle class base, and thereby education and everything that follows with it.
3. Defense collaborations in advance maritime technology. You might be aware of the 'String of Pearl' strategy of China to encircle India, well Modi brought the counter to that.

17th November'2014 : State Visit : Fiji

What he gave and what he got?
Fiji had supported ISRO scientist by stationing them during the Managalyan Mission. Fiji due to its location in the pacific is important to us for space exploration missions. Modi sought cooperation in this.
Also, his visit was timely placed before Xi Jingping's visit to Fiji. Both India and China have been competing in Africa for natural resources to supplement our growing economies. Since, India is far behind in that race, Modi is looking for new avenues from where we can get resources. The pacific islands are resource rich and hence him meeting heads of 19 pacific states is very important for our economic growth.

He gave Fiji co-development projects in power, IT and education sector. He also extended 75 million dollar line of credit. Since, Fiji is now a democracy which going too grow economically, lending them money will make them friendly as well as India gets the money back in the long run.

10th March - 14th March'2015 : State Visit : Mauritius, Seychelles and Sri Lanka

In Seychelles and Mauritius, he got the respective governments to place India-controlled Coastal Surveillance Radar systems again to counter the naval expansion of China done by building ports in Sri Lanka and Gwadar, Pakistan.
Insider story: His visit to Sri Lanka was followed by Srisena's Government cancelling projects of two Chinese Giant Companies real estate contracts on 'environmental grounds' and giving them to India instead.

Oh wow !! This seems like he is just too paranoid about China.

Well, China didn't build ports in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, nor did it create dry docks in Nepal and listening posts in Bangladesh overnight. Congress government sat through this for 10 years. So, he is not making too many foreign trips.

Modi is finishing the pending homework. Bringing jobs, securing our borders, reviving the Navy, getting new technology and selling our products. Yes!! Do you know that European Union had banned our mangoes from their markets and Modi got them to remove the ban.

Here are some links highlighting achievements of Modi Govt , if that helps you, so many changes have been taking place within the administration, we cannot notice it sitting here in Canada, only if you interact with people living there, you may find it out.

http://indianexpress.com/article/ind...listed-by-him/

http://www.indiatvnews.com/politics/...ent-29512.html

http://www.businesstoday.in/current/...ry/219742.html

The fact that all the oppositions unite, irrespective of their own diagonally different views amongst themselves, for the sole purpose of not letting Modi succeed in his governance, they have made these fight as the battle of their own survival in the field of politics.

Re: Modi is nothing more than tourist Prime Minister: Kharge

There is a saying that, u can take a horse to the water, but horse has to drink water. we cannot force him to drink water. This is frm a report I recd last week...worth reading.

A nation of 2.4 billion feet can walk to become an economic giant of the century: but it is important that each step, however tender the feet could be in the beginning, has to happen in sync with a strategy that is ideal for India's advantages coming into play. The Government has a lot more to focus on, come to terms with and set out its business prioritizing actions over pronouncements. Somewhere a fatigue of statements is kicking in that too within the very first year of the much acclaimed tenure of NDA under the leadership of PM. Modi.

We need new generation of educated farmers employing and rewarding a huge work force which is focused on providing food to the country and the world. We need much more hiring to happen in all security forces, State, Centre and the shared forces. Therefore generation of jobs has to be out of a very deftly woven fabric with weaving happening through the wheels of reforms, investment and catalysis by Government going beyond policy and embracing integrative actions on the ground.

There are a few sectors that are starved of labour although there is deluge of unemployed youth in the country. Government has to bridge the supply demand gap in terms of skilled labour. Like Government offers land to the investors, it has to offer skilled labour to the investors. This is where investors meet the skilled unemployed youth of India. This is where Make in India is possible. This is where even farming becomes investor friendly. India needs to innovate the supply side a lot more than it has been doing. We need Smart Governments, not just honest Governments. The Smart Governments are those that are going to ask investor to plug in first and fund the project within a timeline. The world is full of money waiting to be channeled into economically stable markets which can afford a decent return on investment with protection to capital. India needs Tier 2 and 3 towns to become investor-savvy and provide access to resources without a glitch in exchange for employment of skilled unemployed youth. Given the standards of automation, digitalization of market and density of e-commerce that is gathering momentum, growth needs to be spread out well in terms of services for generation of jobs. Manufacturing has serious limitations also given the slackening global demand. Farming has opportunities both in terms of modernisation and upgrading the labour in terms of skills. We need new generation of educated farmers employing and rewarding a huge work force which is focused on providing food to the country and the world.

A clean administration makes improvement on the supply side including removal of bottlenecks like red tape, corrupt and inept bureaucracy, wasteful expenditure and dysfunctional legacy functions of the Government.
