Hope that you will hear this soon "Hey Shring, Your Company Just Got Bought Out by one of the best businessmen in the town and they wants you to be remained on your post with higher package"

However, remember that change is usually inevitable.

Re: I could be out of a job

echarcha,

After we left the company, the company closed. The GREAT PARSI BOSS too lost his job. He went to Dubai and got some assignment, and is setting up an offshore center for them. He hired most of the old company fellas. Unfortunately, no jobs for likes of us. But that was a smart move.

Re: I could be out of a job

I expect sometimes it is not too good to float your resume too much. go with what echarcha says... you choose where you apply, preferably go without pre-conditions. If you dont find a job which does not completely match what you want, join the one that you are getting and then keep looking - better to have something in hand.

perhaps look out for contracts rather than permis? as you can see, permi job has its own hazards....

btw, how are those getting made redundant getting paid in your current company.... you probably need to consider if you wait for redundancy based on how much money will the company pay you for making you redundant - which you will lose if you resign.... what does your contract say about notice periods?

1) find a job 2) then instead of resigning, get your manager to bump your name up the list so you get redundancy money 3) join the job and keep looking for what you want - as you always do....

Looks like they all expect managers to be in 20s and 30s

Re: I could be out of a job

^^
Sorry to hear that. But without knowing details of your situation, one can only give general obvious ideas.
1. Look for another Job
2. Start a Business. You mentioned Mathematical software and education. You can combine them by teaching Mathematical Software.

You could also look for short term projects or part time openings on
https://www.flexingit.com/

Not sure if it works in India

Re: I could be out of a job

This is the situation -

a) Am financially very well off. Can afford not to work for several tens of years (in terms of money)
b) Am relieved that the uncertainty is over
c) Now I will also have a lot of time for doing my bucket list
d) However, I am feeling a vacuum inside me. Not having a regular income can be scary, even tho I have money
e) I will have a lot of free time. I have a lot of things - a real lot which I wanted to study. So that is good. However, without regular work, will I be able to sustain myself emotionally? I will be facing a serious vacuum

Will keep you posted as things develop. The next fortnight I will be busy "handing over" stuff to company folks

Thanks

If you are not bothered about money, you could become an acharya in the gurukul.
