RTI activist stabbed to death in Gujarat

Gujarat riots witness stabbed 28 times to death in broad daylight

Quote:
Congress worker and witness in the 2002 Naroda Patiya riot case, Nadeem Ahmed Sayed, was on Saturday stabbed to death by some unknown persons in Juhapura area here, police said.

The incident took place this morning when Sayed left his house around 0700 hours, and the assailants stabbed him with sharp weapons several times and fled, they said.

According to police, Sayed was rushed to V.S. Hospital by his family members but was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctors.

The attackers are on the run and their identity was not yet known, police said.

The deceased was a witness in the Naroda Patiya case, where 95 persons were killed on February, 28, 2002 during the communal violence that erupted after the Godhra train burning incident.

The court where the case trial was on, had recorded Sayed’s statements a couple of months back.

Sources close to Sayed said he was also a police informer in some cases, and his murder had some connection with the clash between the slaughter house owners and police early this week where two policemen were injured and a police jeep was torched by a mob.

Police said a case has been registered against the unknown persons and further investigations were on.

Sayed was also a RTI activist and he had raised many RTI queries on the Godhra riots and related incidents.

Re: RTI activist stabbed to death in Gujarat

We need whistle-blower protection and witness protection act, in most of the cases either the witness turns hostile or he/she is killed

Re: RTI activist stabbed to death in Gujarat

The basic question is the Holy Cow!

Now, we cannot deny 'beef' to Muslims who wish to consume it as part of their traditional diet. Beef is available to Muslims in other states, then why not Gujarat?

It would be best if the state government setup proper abattoirs so that Muslims can get their meat.

Already Gujarat has hypocritical rules about alcohol. And now about beef.

Now now. There are no "original" muslims in India. Everyone is converted. Just because they are converted doesn't mean that they can now scr*w with their mothers... now, can they The Holy "Indian" cow is like our mother... has been for ages... eons. Just because they converted doesn't mean that the holiness has left the cow... now, has it How in the hell did it become part of their traditional diet? What is tradition? If tomorrow you convert... do you have to forget your tradition... your culture

You remind me of Kiran Bedi who laughs like a witch on the Ramleela grounds

Where did I say that its okay to kill the RTI activist?

I am commenting on the fact that why is the government interfering in the rights of Muslims to consume beef? Gujarat is already a two faced state where they ban alcohol just because its Gandhi's state! Why the fuck? Alcohol bans have never worked and today the safest and surest way to get alcohol in Gujarat is at the local police station! So why the fucking two faced policy of alcohol ban? And why the fuck denial of meat for Muslims?

If I convert then I cannot forget my traditions because I would be a first generation convert. However, in time I would adopt the traditions of the new religion and pass them forward. So within 2 or 3 of the next generations, the original traditions would have been forgotten.

Maybe our definitions of traditions are different. For me, traditions are those things that are transferred from generation to generation... multiple generations... hundreds, nay thousands of years. It seems traditions for you mean something else... but I wonder what

These are dietary restrictions - not traditions. First off, a lot of the converts were lower caste hindus who were eating meat (and beef) anyway. So no change there.

Second, if as a Hindu you are told you cant eat beef, you dont eat beef. Its not a preference or tradition but a restriction. Now, when you get converted you are told it is ok to eat beef. You may still follow your old dietary restriction. But your children, who see their neighbours eating beef, and have no such restrictions imposed on them, may choose to. When they taste it for the first time, they are sold. Because, lets face it, beef is delicious!! And a new "tradition" is started.

Third, you are assuming that ALL traditions have been there for eons. Again, not true. Traditions are whatever you got from your previous generation. So it is easy to start a new tradition. Two generations later - it has been a tradition in your family for generations.
