Question Another Terrorist shot dead.....

Could not resist this one......

Palestinian sources say Israeli troops have shot dead a 95-year-old woman, the oldest victim of the 26-month Intifada, outside the West Bank town of Ramallah.
Witnesses and hospital staff say Fatima Mohammad Hassan Abeid died from at least one bullet in the back as the vehicle she was in was shot at by Israeli troops.

We condemn this war crime of killing in cold blood a 95-year-old woman and we hold Israel fully responsible

Saeb Erekat
Palestinian spokesman
Israeli military sources said soldiers fired warning shots at a car which was moving fast on a road closed to Palestinians, and then fired at the wheels when it refused to stop.

They said they had no information about casualties.

Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat described the incident as a "war crime".

'Shooting in all directions'

Fatima Hasan, from the village of Attara, was shot as she sat in the back of a vehicle at a checkpoint outside the city, witnesses said.

Two other women were reportedly injured. "The soldiers were running towards us, shooting in all directions," said 41-year-old Kifaya Rafat, another passenger who was wounded in the thigh during the incident. "They started to hit the windows of the car."

She added that the after breaking the windows the troops retreated and began shooting at the vehicle from a distance.

Mr Erekat compared Fatima Hasan's death to that of a 70-year-old man on Sunday who was crushed when a house in the town of Beit Lahiya in the Gaza Strip was demolished by Israelis.

The Israeli army said the house belonged to the family of Hisham Dab, an Islamic Jihad suicide bomber who killed 20 Israelis in a March 1996 attack in Tel Aviv.

Israel has maintained a blockade of Ramallah and other West Bank towns since a recent wave of suicide bombings.

At least 1,600 Palestinians and more than 600 Israelis have been killed since the uprising began in September 2000.

Federal empolyees do not get pay raise ... but..

"It is unconscionable for any elected representative of the American people to contemplate taking hard-earned taxpayer dollars that are desperately needed in this country, and sending them to support the brutal military occupation of a foreign country.

Dekh bhai... it's not that simple either.

My sympathy and support is with Palestine, but at the same time, I feel they have become a pawn in the hands of a larger Pan-Arabic agenda. The Israeli occupation is brutal and illegitimate, but at the same time, the extremists on the other side need to understand the need for the existence of Israel. Too much water has flown under the bridge. One can't totally eliminate the other. There are innocents living on both the sides who neither want expansion nor want semitic elimination.

Dunno how this thing is gonna be solved though. How or If.

we have rehashed the argument so many times before.
israel needs to accept the creation of an independent palestinian state.
the palestinians, including hamas, need to recognise israel's right to exist.
sounds so simple does it not. i wish it would happen and it will but not for some time yet.

How could a sucide bomber harm other people, if he were fighting with just stones ? Stone himself to death ?

Anways, I am not into heated discussion on this. The second piece of news had link to some Isreal Newspaper. I fell bad for children and innocent dying and pray to God somehow this would stop but I am not so passionate abt. that issue that I start reading Isreal / Palestine newspapers.
I admit ; I do not know the facts nor I am right person to argue with.

I am out of this discussion !

10 killed in Israeli incursion

Friday, December 6, 2002 Posted: 2:13 PM EST (1913 GMT)

JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Ten Palestinians -- including two U.N. relief workers -- were killed in fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinians inside a Gaza refugee camp, Palestinian and U.N. sources said.

The fighting broke out early Friday after the Israel Defense Forces entered the El-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza to demolish the home of Imam Salah Amin Shushaniya, who Israel accuses of taking part in terrorism.

The pre-dawn incursion involving dozens of Israeli tanks and armored vehicles prompted calls relayed over the local mosque's prayer speakers for Palestinians to resist the Israeli soldiers.

According to the IDF, two gunmen opened fire on Israeli forces as they got near the house they intended to destroy and the Israeli forces returned fire.

During continued fighting between the IDF and Palestinian gunmen, an Israeli Apache helicopter fired a rocket into a crowd of armed Palestinian men, according to the Israeli military.

Nine people were killed in the violence and a Palestinian woman later died of her wounds, according to hospital sources. The IDF's Gaza division commander, Brig. Gen. Yisrael Ziv, said that most of the casualties in the operation were armed terrorists.

Palestinian sources said nine people from two families were killed in a house near the suspected terrorist's home.

U.N. relief workers killed
In addition to the two U.N. workers, Palestinian sources said three of those killed were members of the Palestinian national guard, two others were civilians, and three more were members of the Popular Resistance.

The Popular Resistance movement is an umbrella group containing members of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah Movement and the radical Islamic group Hamas. Hamas said among the three Popular Resistance members killed were two of its members.

The U.N. Relief and Works Agency said two of its employees -- a man and a woman -- were killed. The man was identified as Usama Hassan Tahrawi, 31, an attendant at a boy's school who was standing in his garden. The woman was identified as Ahlam Riziq Kandil, 32, a teacher at the UNRWA elementary school in the camp.

UNRWA said Tahrawi was hit by an Israeli missile fired from an attack helicopter. Kandil, said the agency, was hit by gunfire inside her home and later died at a hospital

Peter Hansen, the UNRWA commissioner-general, condemned the killings by what he said was the "indiscriminate use of heavy firepower in a densely populated civilian area."

He said UNRWA would conduct its own investigation into the incident
