Angry

Mumbai, April 10: Stung by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s apparent barb that Mumbai’s doors should be open to all, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray criticised the Prime Minister for offering his “valuable thoughts.”

The Sena leader has blamed “people from Atal Behari Vajpayee and Laloo Yadav’s States” for Mumbai’s problems and warned that any attempt to separate the metropolis from Maharashtra would be fought tooth and nail.

Thackeray’s direct verbal assault on Vajpayee, made in an interview given to Sena mouthpiece Saamna on Tuesday, marks a new low in Sena-BJP relations, which soured considerably after the Sena’s demand for the removal of “the trio in the PMO” and its refusal to participate in a NDA rally in Mumbai.

During his visit to Mumbai on Sunday, Vajpayee had stressed that Mumbai belongs to everyone. “Hum to Mumbai sab ke liye chahate hain, lekin Mumbaiwale kya chahate hain ye malum nahi,” the Prime Minister had noted.

Thackeray replied sharply, “The only boon given by outsiders to Mumbai is the population boom. They did not develop the city; they caused its deterioration. Because of them, the crime rate has shot up, and a jungle of unauthorised constructions and slums has converted the whole of Mumbai into Dharavi. Most migrants into Mumbai have come from Vajpayee’s Uttar Pradesh and Laloo’s Bihar. These people steal electricity and water, and encroach upon government land. They have transformed Mumbai into a toilet.”

Thackeray underlined the possibility of a fresh demand for separating Mumbai from Maharashtra and warned the Prime Minister that “if that happens, don’t forget that the Marathi manus has not drunk a dead mother’s milk.”

Bala ..thackrey again proved his hypocricy !

Cool

Hello Indian ,
THe problem is everyone seems to look how Bal Thackrey instead of what he speaks !! What he spoke is if VAjpayee is speaking in that intension then i m protesting.. There is big if in between ok ???

First of all Mumbai is in Maharshtra. There is no rule that outsiders cant stay there. But they should respect native people and dont make fun of them or think how to get rid of them. (Which is 70 % people in Mumbai r doing). One example is : "Sundar Mumbai , Gujarati MUmbai" . This slogan . What does this mean ?? Mumbai is of marathi people and not of Gujarati. They are outsiders. So i would advice u to think over what he speaks. Its now a days fashion to speak against Bal Thacray. Learn to think ....Hope u take in +ve way.

Cheers

Shiv Sainik, we need to be realistic. I say we because I am as much of a Mumbaiite as you are, even more so. My father's family was one of the first twelve families to have come to Mumabi when the Portuguese invaded Goa.

Tell me what would Mumbai be without Gujaratis, Punjabis and Sindhis. Even you have to agree that Maharashtrians are lousy businessmen. And if all these non-Marathi businessmen go away, what would be the plight of Mumbai? So like it or not, we have to be grateful to them for making Mumbai the commercial centre of India.

We should forget all about being Maharashtrians, Gujaratis etc. and learn to be Indians.
