Cool Re: Over 100 killed in Maharashtra rains

Get 700 dead cattle off the roads, NOW
July 30, 2005
----------------------------------------------------------
The BMC’s health department has issued notices to 28 tabela owners to remove the carcasses of their buffaloes from roads and tabelas in the suburbs. Around 1,200 buffaloes have drowned after the heavy downpour on Tuesday.

Most of the carcasses were at Walbhatt Road in Goregaon, Andheri (East), Kandivli and Samata Nagar in Malad, as these areas have a large number of tabelas.

Re: Over 100 killed in Maharashtra rains

I was one of the people stuck outside! I had to walk all the way from bandra to Andheri (where I live) in waist high water.. will share my experience later.. It was horrible... and to follow it all... we had no electricity for 2 days!!

786 is not supposed to be a lucky number as Islam does not believe in such heretic practices....several of Arabs I knew attested to the fact that they do not have 786 scribbled on their mosques as do some mosques in India or Indian subcontinent

Is discussing on this irrelevant “lucky number” which actually is the figure of the staggering deaths in Maharashtra really a necessity during this crisis-ridden situation?

That figure of deaths needs to be updated. That was the figure when Narayan Rane was being administered the oath as a cabinet minister in the presence of the entire cabinet including the Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra State(Kaangress). The figure is touching nearly 1000 now. The entire city of Patan in Western Maharashra is flooded due to release of water from Koyna dam.

Yes. Its been raining continuously since Sunday. The Maharashtra government has advised people to stay indoors as the weather forecast isn't very good for the next 24 hours. Schools, Colleges & many business houses are shut for today. The downpour is still on & the roads are flooded everywhere. Though the flooding isn't as severe as last week, the situation is still grim & if the downpour carries on this manner relentlessly, then by afternoon, we could have a similar situation as last week.

We are working today despite low attendance. Today morning, I drove through the flooded roads & am in my office right now with the deluge still carrying on outside.

We understand your pain. I am a Mumbaikar and I can see how tough it is. But kya kare? Other than express worry, sympathy and outrage at the problems faced by Mumbaikars, what else can we do? You say that you dont have water for last 3 days and we are discussing Islam? Well, how can you blame us for being like Nero, when Maharashtra government is busy swearing in Narayan Rane and not worrying about the problems of Mumbaikars.
