Re: Netflix movies worth watching

There is a 76 Movie "Taxi Driver" also showing nowadays. A bit arty, but i liked it when i first saw it long back. Mahesh Bhatt's sadak was inspired by it, with one scene being almost a straight copy.

Re: Netflix movies worth watching

Was a Mahesh Bhatt original weekend.

Finished Taxi Driver over the weekend. It starts off slowly and shows the darker side of NYC plus the general life of the taxi driver.
But the last half an hour is gripping. You also have Jodie foster play a 12 year old prostitute she is seen more in the last 30 minutes.

Mahesh Bhatt did not copy it properly to "sadak" (one scene is infact copied from Cyborg)

Also, "It happened one night" is in progress. Thats on Amazon Prime. Looked quite decent. Though in Black and White, humor here and there keeps your interest.

Mahesh Bhatt copied it as it is, and hence "Dil Hai ki Maanta Nahi" feels a better copy job than Sadak. It was also copied long time back in Raj Kapoor Nargis Starrer "Chori Chori".

I found it interesting, though, one cannot really watch this in front of kids.

Re: Netflix movies worth watching

NH10 ( New movie - not on netflix, yet )

National Highway 10

My rating : 1.5 / 5, a Flop / Avoid.

Just saw this movie. There is nothing much in the story at all.

Subject : Khap–panchayats and honor killings.
( Similar previous movies : Jungle + Chameli, for the fact that movie is about dark, completes one night, in jungle,... and about corrupted police… etc )

Lots of bloody violence, torture and khoona-maraki,... and the whole movie is made in one night, and dark.

Varun and Anushka in lead and main roles, Dipti Naval in a very small role. .
Rest, not any famous character is in the movie.

It's a very Short movie and No song at all, except few background small lyric linings.

Movie is about the honor killing, when an orthodox and fundamentalist village family’s ( Sarpanch’s family ) daughter, runs away with an outer-caste of her’s lover boy,
the family members grabs them n' brutally kills their own daughter, while grabbing and dragging him and her far in the woods,.. and also her Lover, in a worst and brutal way,
and somehow Varun and anushka ( a high- society couple-pair ), tried to stop them a little,.. and later saw them doing so, and unnecessarily are now involved in this act, as they saw them doing so.

Fardeen khan, had previously one flop movie named “Jungle”,.. and this movie is almost very similar to that movie,
as the chase is in dark jungles, thro’ out the movie.
Corrupted and coward police also plays his part ( like the movie Chameli ) in this movie, too.

Does Varun and Anushka get rids of that society-system of honor killings, and do they finishes the involved Sarpunch – Mukhiya family & sons company?
And,....What price, they have to pay?

Watch the movie for that.
Movie is a below average ( IMO ) and my ranking be 1.5 / 5.

Noticed "Maine Pyar Kiya" in the recently added list on Netflix. Wonder who will have the guts to watch this

I was thinking of torturing my kids by showing them this movie... then realized it will be a torture for me too to watch it with them... moved on to "Singham"

Re: Netflix movies worth watching

Not on netflix,
but last night watched, the old missing one movie - "Taxi 9211"

It was in a bluray good quality, so quite enjoyed. Good one.

Nana Patekar and John Ibrahim.

----

Also watched aab tak chhappan-2, lead by Nana Patekar.

Found it ok, ( 3.6 / 5 ) and not that bad.

Re: Netflix movies worth watching

Watching what is a brilliant movie on Netflix.

The man who never was (my rating 4.675 on 5)

True story of a British attempt to trick the enemy into weakening Sicily's defenses before the 1943 attack, using a dead man with faked papers.
