Question Has The Congress Lost A Secular Referendum?

A few days ago it was a Sonia Gandhi no one had seen before from a small purring cat she had transformed herself into a bellowing Buffalo. State after state was being trampled by the Congress. BJP was supposed to be on a never ending retreat. The confidence of the Congress was becomming over confidence. The hon.Chief minister of Maharashtra even thundered that the Goa assembly polls would be a referendum on the BJP's rule and policied in Gujarat. Such was the confidence that Congress was almost preparing the one and only Ms Sonia to take on the role of PM even without a Lok sabha election.

But then something happened which seems to have deflated the tyres of the rolling Congress juggernaught! The spanner in the wheel seems to have thrown overboard many a Congress leader.
The Congress has lost the Goa assembly elections the BJP has made decisive gains there. Goa is a state where there is a population of 35% minorities most of them being Catholics Sonias co-religionsts. What happened?

Not just that in Maharashtra too the thundring CM's pyjamas seem to have caught fire he's running helter skelter trying to save his sinking Congress ship.

Where is the Indian politics heading to? Has the Congress gained only because the BJP was doing nothing? And if the BJP does something where will it leave the Congress?

Dunno if it was a secular referundum or not.. but loss to congress for any reason is welcome. The sooner the party gets disbanded or fades away in oblivion the better for the country.

Talking The secular struggle in Maharashtra

And to add to that ...Sonia a person who in her long stay at India could not even learn to speak properly in Hindi could teach stalwarts like A.B Vajpayee a lesson or two in foreign affairs!

People what do you say will happen in Maharashtra? Will the Gandhi capped storks of the Italian Congress and the Congress(C) (Congress - Castiest) of shriman Sharadchandra Raoji Pawar Saheb manage to save their non performing, corrupt but secular govt or will they have to say..Hussha..Hussha all fall down?

The Goa elections was supposed to be a referendum on the hapeenings in Gujarat. This was said by the honourable Italian Congress CM of Maharashtra Shri Vilasroaji Deshmukh.

Since Congress and it's secular partners have messed up

Should Maharashtra go in for fresh elections? Why is BJP not vociferously asking for Shri Vilasrao's head?

COng wins the no confidence motion...

DF crisis blows over, mob attacks Sena leader's residence
PTI
Mumbai, June 13

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Congress-NCP Government in Maharashtra on Thursday won trust of the Assembly by a comfortable margin of 10 votes triggering violent scenes after a fortnight-long drama that witnessed ruling MLAs being flown outside the State to ward off poaching by Opposition even as seven defectors were disqualified by Speaker shortly before a special session.
The confidence motion was carried by 143 votes to 133 with five member-PWP abstaining in a House with effective strength of 281 after on Thursday morning's disqualification of seven MLAs who moved the High Court to challenge it.

Soon after the voting jubilant NCP activists stoned the official residence of the leader of the Opposition and Shiv Sena leader Narayan Rane, located adjacent to the Vidhan Bhawan.

Police lobbed teargas shells as the mob set ablaze a motor-bike parked in the vicinity. A cameraman of a television channel and a few policemen were injured in the incident.

Deputy chairman of the Upper House and NCP leader Vasant Davkhare's residence, at a stone's throw away from Rane's residence, was also attacked.

Police sources claimed that Sena and NCP supporters clashed soon after the news spread about the government winning the trust motion.

"Police cordoned off the entire area and the situation was brought under control," a senior police official said.

The stray incidents of violence have come amid reports that Rane and BJP legislative wing leader Gopinath Munde could be arrested for alleged role in "keeping rebel DF MLAs in forcible confinement".

Minutes after the trust motion was passed, a visibly disturbed Munde claimed that a DCP had telephoned him at about 09:00 am "warning that he will be arrested based on the complaint lodged by Congress MLA Padmakar Valvi".

"If I am arrested on this ground, I will not seek bail," Munde told reporters. Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, who also holds home portfolio, asked about possible arrest of Rane and Munde, said "police will take appropriate action as per the law".

A few hours ahead of the commencement of proceedings in the assembly, Speaker Arun Gujrathi disqualified seven rebel ruling front legislators under the provisions of anti-defection law.
