Lightbulb Review: Kambakht Ishq - Akshay Kumar's latest film

Okay I started this thread because I want a review of this film - a real echarcha style review!

This is something that one of the co-stars has to say about Akki
Quote:
Akshay Kumar is good kisser: Denise Richards
By: IANS Date: 2009-06-23

London:
Former Bond girl Denise Richards has done some passionate scenes with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar in "Kambakkht Ishq" and says he is a good kisser.

Richards insists that no man in Bollywood can match his skills, reported contactmusic.com.

"Akshay was so down to earth and very genuine. He made me feel very comfortable, plus he's a good kisser! I can see why he's India's sexiest actor," said Richards

She admits she struggled with the language barrier while filming her first Bollywood movie, but got a helping hand from her co-stars and hopes to do another Bollywood film.

Releasing July 3, the film also stars Hollywood actors Sylvester Stallone and Brandon Routh.

Re: Review: Kambakht Ishq - Akshay Kumar's latest film

Akki, the super stunt man and Kareena, the super model fights like cats and dogs through out movie, and finally ends up doing ...... you know what

First half has enough to entertain. Javed Jaffery's character, although absolutely unnecessary in the movie, is still very well conceptualized. Second half is boring, and wrongly executed emotional scenes makes it worse. Although its not a long movie, yet it needs editing at many places. With a DVD u can be a self editor, but I saw it on the big screen, and overall it wasn't a bad watch.

A typical bollywood popcorn entertainer, not a well packaged one, but its still watchable

The good news is that the movie has got a bumper opening all over India, and it should do fairly well at box office. With promos of Kameenae (Vishal Bharadwaj's production) and Love Aaj Kal (from the director of 'Jab We Met') looking promising, lets hope Bollywood has good days ahead

Re: Review: Kambakht Ishq - Akshay Kumar's latest film

nikhat kazmi in TOI says that '' never before has a bollywood film's script been more derogatory towards women .not only does akshay incessantly address kareena as bitch, he also treats all other women around him as objects to be abused and used and literally flung around in bouts of fury .the women in the film are shown to be totally brainless.''

no wonder the sify review gives it a bad rating . its written by a woman, after all.

TOI gives it two stars.

You know ashdoc, and I know this is true in many cases - lot of women like a bad boy. If a man treats them like dirt these women just love it. They will comply and be his slave. Offcourse when I say bad boy I dont mean like our goat fucking Arabs who completely abuse and torture their women mentally and physically. Bad boy means a guy who wont go all faggy and sensitive all the time with his woman. Bady boy means someone who has his self confidence.

Since you are a young man, not yet tied into a marital relation, let me tell you a few things - dont be a too sensitive namby pamby guy with your woman. Sometimes you need to be 'go to hell, I dont care' type man!

In an interview many years ago, the original James Bond - Sean Connery had said - 'Sometimes you have to slap women to make them behave'. The interviewer was shocked and so Sean explained - 'I dont condone wife beating, but I understand a slap or two'

(Now many will flame : me )

Re: Review: Kambakht Ishq - Akshay Kumar's latest film

ashdoc, abhi tum bacche ho.. Bad Boy ki school ka main headmaster hoon.

Anyway, I just saw the movie online. I like Askhay Kumar but this one needs to flop. Pure grabage.

The only good scene is when Sylvester Stallone beats up a few baddies like our Dharmendra. So if you have to watch, just watch this scene which is about 10 minutes before the end of the movie. Rest all is worse than Chandni Chowk To China.

I saw this in theater, not bad. Because of good sound system, its fun to watch in theater. Time pass. Second half gets boring.

Re: Review: Kambakht Ishq - Akshay Kumar's latest film

akki is a good actor. I just dont get it why he keeps on acting in meaning less films one after another.
Sala ek hi tho Hindu super star he and that too a person without the knowledge of which films will run and which will not.

Amtha I salute you. Remember that I can watch complete Govinda and his type of movies and roll with laughter.

However, I really wonder how you found even the first half funny? Javed Jaffrey is a great comedian but is wasted by being in hundred year old joke. Just two situations and then nothing more of him. Director wasted him.

Even the Boman Irani situation was so damn old and done so badly.

And the whole film revolves one gag stretched beyond its capacity to expand - the doctor forgets her watch in the patient's stomach during a medical operation.

There was no story. Akshay saying bitch bitch sounded very artificial. Kareena had to do extra histrionics to look like a man hater frigid chick.

Denise Richards is passe and not at all worth drooling over. She is in just 3 scenes again.

I mean chandni Chowk To China started off witha good concept and was bearable for atleast 45 minutes in the beginning. Kambakht Ishq is all about extreme over the top and very very loud acting and trying to be funny when the joke is not there nor is the situation funny. And mind you, I enjoy anything silly, as silly as Govinda in Ankhein saying lines like 'Diri diri diri deey, hurrr, yeh Daddy ka hota hain?'

David Dhawan knows how to create a comic situation. This new director knows nothing. He was given the keys to the candy store - all locations are in Hollywood and Italy and a huge budget. However, the moron just shoved the candies up his ass instead of tasting them with his mouth.
