Existing Indian rail runs on century old infrastructure. Proposed bullet train will run on decades old but highly reliable Japanese technology.

Don’t blame the persons. Just like understaffed pandus actually keep the law and order going, the railway staff keeps the mammoth system safe. For every accident, there are at least a lakh safe trips. If you got the Netflix access from Jagguji, there is a British documentary on Mumbai locals, which also covers a bit of mainline rail, that talks about the safety procedures.

Re: Bullet Train

I completely agree that one must advance with the technology and improve with science,.. BUT, smtimes it seems like but we are not ready to deserve for that… we need all luxuries with our lazy style of leisure, and king-style lazy-idle mentality,….….. Just like, car is a symbol of status and 95 percent who drives the car ( via driver ) uselessly for a smaller crowded distances, when they also know that by bike or other way they can be lot cheaper and lot more ahead,…( In US, car is an absolute necessity ) so is with the mis-use of the cell phone,…. And so will be with the Bullet train,..

No professional staff with urgent meeting needs doctors needed for immediate surgery and such professional strata will be found using it, but more will be,.. lukhkhas – Lafhanghaas,… from AHD to Mumbai for a quick access of bar, beers and Bazaars ( Mandi ),.. and in India money can be earned easily with many sidekicks,… so ticket price is not a matter !

For example, social medias – FB , WA… the most faaltu use, we Indians ( Asians ) are found doing everywhere,… you will see not that many WA groups or twitter pages by foreigners doing that much faatlu-giri,…. If you ask at yr job,… hardly 1 American will be found doing such time-pass faltu-giri, out of 100 and so with our forums and chats on internet,…. We are ahead in watching porn and any faaltu-giri, a way more than any others,,,,..

Hope, Japanese tech, have all electronic measurements and control, like if two trains are coming on a single track, computer will automatically stop them,.. etc….. OR our Indian staff of illiterate, Half-roti pay-scale hired will create again the disasters, like they always do,.. ! God save from ours Indo mentality ! We need all new technology, but dunno wanna deserve,.. as a civic citizen.

Re: Bullet Train

^^
That is exactly the excuse most bureaucrats from License permit Raj used. 'Indians are not ready for this'. in 92, the commies were also saying 'Who needs mobile phones'. In a market economies, whoever is ready for what is decided by market forces.

I know you don't read books (which shows in the lekhan shaili), but there is a critique of this mentality in Gurcharan Das' 'India Unbound'. One of the Finance Ministers (mostly Pranab da), refused a license to Gurcharan Das to make perfumes saying that women dont need them.

Now, the thing non market here is even if it is after 50 years, the money for this is going to be shelled by the government (i.e. Public) and not a private company. All the high speed rails are built or funded by the governments (Japan/France/Germany/China). Now, again, there are ways this could be made viable like the Ahmedabad to Delhi extension might pass through some new towns and real estate development might recover money. And the amount is comparable to what was sunk in MNREGA, etc.

And obviously, you havent been following 'India story' or you think every one is like what was in your government department in 80s. Before complaining about Indian mentality, try to 'Undesify' yourself, by actually paying for the movies you watch and review.
