What would you have done?

We had a culture festival recently and people from 25 countries put some pavilions showcasing their local things. India had mehendi, bollywood songs, vada/idly, saree shops etc.
Nepal had Everest, some local costumes etc. Srilanka had lovely jewellery, tasty food.

now pakistan had "Kashimir Chai and kashimiri outfits". WTF? When i wanted to question them, hubby said, 'dont disrupt peace". I kept quite but I am wondering if I should write an email to Sushma Swaraj. Not that she would get to read it, but, at least to bring something to her attention.

What would you guys do if you come across something like this?
I wouldnt have gone to the pakistan pavillion at all but then there was a free gift if we visit all the countries
so i went.

Have you ever had Kashmiri chai? It's nonsense.. it's a salty chai without masala, without cream, no sugar. I wouldn't care about such crap.

Write the email .. but don't expect anything.

Thing is .. if Indians don't display Kashmiri culture or north east culture .. somebody else will. I've lived in many cities in India but hardly ever did anybody from north east interacted with me/us (friends) .. same with Kashmiris. We have to accept India is a country of hypocrites and many states that just identify as a nation. We don't even gel well as neighbors.

I wrote an email just now; expecting no reply. Yes we are hypocrites. I told my mom and all my relatives the same thing. When i told them about this incident and that i intend to write an email, everyone discouraged me. Said, i dont live in India, we create trouble, its a sensitive issue, modi ji will find a solution, keep quite, not like you dont have issues in your life...bla bla bla.
these are the same people who taught me how to be patriotic

I had it once. I was trying to be humorous to my host and I told 'namak thoda jyaada hai'. He didn't get it and was explaining how one should be used to it. I can't have it now anyway else my BP will shoot up.

More details later on.

Didn't you know that patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel? That's what Delhi's English media says about us.

I've been told by my wife itself .. that why you care about Indian politics .. you don't live there anymore, why waste time.

Not interested in the main topic being discussed here... but this made me stumble. Nepal had Everest The mountain? How did they achieve that Or did you mean the masala

Re: What would you have done?

while I abhor Pakis trying to claim kashmir, I think names of food dishes are not really someone's jagir. The chinese chowmein sold on streets of India or Hyderabadi biryani sold in delhi or chicken tikka in the UK or karachi biscuits sold in Hyderabad or german bakery in pune - these things get around.

will we sell them in a world fair? probably not. Did the Pakistani stall mention anything about the dishes being from Pakistan? If so, then it makes sense to make noise about it.... If that is the case, then I would write to the organisers of the fair with a complaint saying food on Pakistani stall was not really from Pakistani cuisine and in show-casing that food as if it is from their country was against the spirit in which the fair was organised. At best Kashmir is still disputed, at worst for Pakistan, they have not right over it.
