This day in History

It is May 21 in this part of the world -- 2 things i remember happened today

1991 - Rajiv Gandhi is assassinated. PM in a statesmanly gesture has actually called to observe this as an anti terrorism day.

Many might associate him with Bofors, Shah Bano, 1984, etc.

But he also pushed things in IT and telecom. The Cybercoolie cos moved from crawling to walking during his time (They started walking faster in 1991 and running in late 90s). His man Sam Pitroda started the concept of STD booths and CDot.

1994 - Sushmita Sen is crowned Miss Universe. this is not her only key date which aligns with 'The Family'. She shares her Birthday with Indira Gandhi.

Re: Today

I remember May 21, 1991 .. I got up early to go to the club for swimming, Dad said go to sleep.. the club would be closed, I said no way.. its a Wednesday.

He said Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated last night.. everythings closed, schools, offices, clubs, market, etc in fear of riots breaking out.

Re: This day in History

Looks like @narendramodi is going to be the source of what happened on any given day.

Found out that May 22 is the Martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev (a major contributor to Adi Granth which later on became Guru Granth Sahib)

Well,... that's an interesting question 2 , btw.
Well,... I would say, anything latest and greatest interesting, fun-flled things,.. on the current things, fun-events now going on,.. jokes, talk, toons-cartoons, beauty-watch, science news of new gadgets/inventions in pipeline,... spectacular amazing vdos, beauties, video, news ( lesser the topics about Kejari or Modi, I personally prefer if it's not aided by any fun and entertainment factor in it,. - uus ka tau dhandha hai, humein kya Ph. D karni hai, badi details me jaa kar @ his motives/intents/promises,.. ya uun ke sidhdhnat O' par,.. ! Sab saale chor hai,.. ! ) incidents and events but it should be new, note-worthy, non-boring and current with no vaasi or heard 10s of times,. of stuff.

In short, fun-factor must not be missing in any discussion, imho. For example, I was on few other forums and arena last 3-4 days and all talks on Cannes parades, with all diff photos in tons, on holly and bolly actresses - Sonam, Ash,.. the exposure angle and dress and hair and many close-ups and discussions, even semi and full dirty, lustic comments,.. of close exposure shots,. and all on-going as the red carpet goes on there - live sort of, was interesting to feel Aishwarya so closely and HD- on-screen almost sharing breath with her kind of feel,.. whole live events discussions with photo-rides, few one's satire comments, their backs, under arms, cleavage, bum, butt, at few places held were just delicious,.. full of entertainment and a full-to, full-toss refreshment and recreation factor in it,.. I strive and starve for pure and plain entertainment,. may it be dirty, semi-dirty or clean,.. but smthg of sunstance and of interest, wherever I see,.. this hovering vulture just lands there

Re: This day in History

Jaggu Jo, there are no more miss universes from India. So won't discussing about the first Indian miss universe be fun.

Also, movie reviews can be found in Imdb too ( Check mine for "The hero - Live story of a spy") and if something is discussed ages after it happened, that means it is worth remembering.

Ok saar agree then,…

the reason I commented 'coz , I knew those couple of well organized sites on which they post daily the table of lists, about such events, what had happened in the history on today'' ( and hence no need to flood all those daily events here, on a daily basis ) and many a times , I had searched, a long ago what spectacular had happened on my own B-day ! Lol.

Btw,.. I got the same Birth day ( per English calendar ) which Modi has, that painter M F Hussein had and also that Threes’ company ( famous soap in USA ) guy JOhn writter had, I had found from those pages.

Coming to the topic,…. Yess, Susu was the first ever from India side be Miss universe at that time,… she was looking like a kallu, ( Bengali sen ) than anyone else before , but again at that time , the foreign market was trying to getting the business in India for cosmetics, puff-perfumes-cosmetics-powder – make- up kits, hair shampoos, eye-sheds, and such beauty – Saundarya Praasadhan markets,. So many had opinions that it was a political movement step by West to get into Asian markets by promoting their lady,.. etc ( God knows know the truth )

About, RG, I still remember the day he was assassinated and Chandrashekar and that other guy ( politician) to whom RG had tried to flip from the chair,.. everyone had suspected of having their hands in this murder, and full police protection was given to them,.. RG was wearing kolhapuri chappal at that time, and his one leg was lying/flying 20+ feet apart and from his chappla he was recognized as Rajiv’s leg. Rajesh khanna was lucky that he was not with him that day,. Otherwise during those times Both were wearing same zhabhaa-lehnga and were promoting Congress,..like two identical twin bothers,… So I would say Kaka was saved. Or he should had been with him… in that bomb blast. That Tamil tiger lady Nalini had used waist belt-jacket suicide bomb,.. and I guess it as French/German’s make.

Re: This day in History

Wikipedia has a full section on what happened on a given day right from beginning of history including births and deaths. I found that the only famous person sharing my birthday is Vinod Khanna.

Her, I am just posting what I remember. In particular you, because 2 cry different events happened.
