26/11 trial: Ajmal Kasab pleads guilty in court

Now that his master, Pakistan, has accepted direct involvement in the Mumbai attacks, terrorist Ajmal Kasab pleads guilty. I hope they hang him soon!

Quote:
Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir alias Kasab Monday confessed to his role in carrying out the Nov 26, 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai.

He has also confessed before Special Judge M.L. Tahilyani that he is a Pakistani national and owned up his involvement in the attacks at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and nearby Cama hospital in south Mumbai.

Kasab admitted that he came in a boat from Karachi along with nine other terrorists to carry out the dastardly acts on the night of November 26 in four places including the iconic Taj and Oberoi Hotels.

in a makeshift court room in Mumbai's Arthur Road jail. Kasab and other terrorists have been also charged with killing five crew members of the boat "Kuber" with which they reached the shores of Mumbai from Pakistan.

They also face charges of planting a bomb in a taxi that exploded in Vile Parle besides firing at CST and Cama hospital, killing three policemen near Rang Bhavan. They have been accused of stealing a Skoda car and killing a policeman at Chowpatty.

Kasab and other accused also face conspiracy charges for the firing at hotels Taj and Oberoi, Nariman House, Leopold Cafe restaurant and planting a bomb that exploded at Mazgaon.

Prosecution has said Kasab and other suspected members of Pakisan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba were able to succeed in their designs to strike terror in Mumbai on November 26 because of maps allegedly provided by co-accused Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin.

Kasab's confession is a big victory for prosecution, said Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

The confession by 21-year-old Kasab comes on the 65th day of the trial.

As a prosecution witness stepped into the box in the court to depose today, Kasab sought permission to speak to his lawyer Abbas Kazmi.

He consulted Kazmi for about half a minute after which the lawyer informed the court that Kasab wanted to confess. Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam objected saying that at this stage of the trial, the accused could not confess before the court.

The judge overruled his objection and allowed Kasab to proceed with his confession.

Kasab described how he and slain terrorist Abu Ismail had opened fire at CST, Cama hospital and other places killing people.

Kasab had appeared before the court for the first time through video-conferencing. Hewas served with an 11,000-page chargesheet which was filed by the crime branch against 38 accused in the November 26 terror strikes.

Out of the 38 accused, 35 Pakistani nationals and operatives of LeT have been shown as wanted. They include Zaki-ur-Rehman Laqvi, Yousif Muzammil, Abu Kafa, Abu Ramza and Zarar Shah. It included names of two suspected Pakistani armymen.

The accused have been charged under various sections of Indian Penal Code, including waging war against nation and criminal conspiracy and under the Foreigners Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Customs Act.

All 26/11 guilty should be hanged: Chavan
The Mumbai terror attacks trial should be completed quickly and all those involved in the attacks "should be hanged", Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said here today.

"All those involved in the 26/11 attacks should be hanged," Chavan said, reacting to the lone arrested terrorist Mohammad Ajmal Kasab today pleading guilty to his involvement in the terror strikes that left over 180 dead.

"All people involved in the attacks should be hanged so that the victims get justice," he said. The 26/11 trial should be conducted quickly, the Chief Minister said.

Re: 26/11 trial: Ajmal Kasab pleads guilty in court

Yes... been seeing that on TV for hours now. It appears too pat & dramatic.

Kasab knows that he will get death penalty.. He knows that he, like Afzal Guru, will live on for years and become a political hot potato, and maybe he will never face the gallows.

He appears to be too smart to be a poor country bumpkin who joined the ultras for money. First there was his natak about being a minor, then the not guilty plea, now the turnaround.

Maybe these people were also trained in what to do in case they were captured alive. Or maybe he is still somehow receiving instructions/guidance from his masters.

I think he will now become hero for some people in Pakistan and they will sing ode to him..

Do we have another Masood Azhar in the making?

Weird ... isn't it. Horse falls in to water is a 24 hours news item to be broadcast repeatedly around the world ... if it happens to happen in the US. Here in India ... a terrorist, a killer is coming clean and world media got nothing to report.

Post Re: 26/11 trial: Ajmal Kasab pleads guilty in court

Is it a surprise that an Indian taught the terrorists to speak in Hindi? And now no prizes to guess which peaceful religion the teacher belonged to!

Quote:
Indian taught us Hindi, says Ajmal

Mumbai: In a significant statement, Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab told the special sessions court on Monday that an Indian national named Abu Jindal was involved in the 26/11 terror conspiracy.

This is the first time Ajmal has confessed about the role of an Indian in the terror attack. Even in his statements before a magistrate and to the police, Ajmal had not revealed anything about Jindal or any other Indian.

Ajmal said Jindal trained him and the nine other terrorists who attacked Mumbai on November 26, 2008, how to speak Hindi. The training was imparted while the 10 were being trained at a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) camp in Pakistan.

Commenting on this, special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said Ajmal was making the statement deliberately. "He has some designs in making such a confession because earlier he had never disclosed the involvement of any Indian," Nikam said. "I strongly suspect that he is not telling the truth."

The court is yet to decide whether to accept Ajmal's confession, Nikam said.

Ajmal admitted in court that he and the nine others came in a boat from Karachi to carry out the attacks on the night of November 26. In the witness box, he described how he and slain terrorist Abu Ismail opened fire at VT.

"I was firing and Abu was hurling hand grenades," Ajmal told the court. "I was in front of Abu, who had taken such a position that no one could see him. I fired at a policeman after which there was no firing from the police side."

Re: 26/11 trial: Ajmal Kasab pleads guilty in court

I think it is a Deal. Kasab must have been told to confess then he will get good quality Biryani in Jail. .

Kasab will get Death Sentence. Ashok Chauvan Government will get credit for it and it will benefit Congress in Maharashtra Elections. Congress can puncture SS-BJP campaign of being weak on terrorism.

After Congress victory in Maharshtra Elections, Kasab will join the elite group of Afzal group and will be used to appease muslims showing him poor misguided youth enraged by Gujrat riots . Media/Bollywood/Pseudo Intellectuals will blow their trumpet in his favour. Narendra Modi will be held responsible for producing Kasabs .

Later on he will be equated with Col. Prasad Srikant Purohit for Samjouta attack and never be executed.

Re: 26/11 trial: Ajmal Kasab pleads guilty in court

Oh yes, that is another tactic kasab adopts now.

Earlier he wanted the chargesheet in Urdu since he didn't understand hindi. Now a Hindi teacher is born..

Abu jindal, is it? Maybe he hopes for shades of McCarthyism in India by making every Abu something a suspect, maybe a whole community.

You know what Budmass? This actually makes sense. Why? Our political parties dont have the guts to hang Kasab or Afzal Guru due to vote bank politics. So why not get a few of our Indians trapped in Pakistani jails in exchange for this Kasab? Will also save us a future plane hijacking

Maharashtra state assembly elections are near. Sharad Pawar's NCP is having very deep discontent and uprising against their partner Congress. So this time more than Raj Thackrey's MNS creating dents in the voter banks, its the NCP which might help defeat Congress candidates.

So yes, such a 'moral victory' over Mumbai attacks might help the Congress. But I wonder if people outside Mumbai, in rural Maharashtra even know or care about Ajmal Kasab.

I think Kasab has very less chances of surviving too long.
Not more than a Year.

Cha Pai you always praise Sharad Pawar but I think the best Politician Maharshtra has ever produced is Vilas Rao Deshmukh. He is removed from CM post only for 1 year, some body comes like Sushil Shinde or Ashok chauvan and wins elections for Congress and he again becomes CM . His smile is really infectious, probably Sonia is in love with it. He has more charm than his son .

He survived 26/11 fiasco got a Central Ministership and he was the one who tightened the screw on Sharad Pawar and relaxed him only after he got the Vice Presidentship of Maharashtra Cricket Board..

He is the only one who can appear as perturbed by Raj Thakrey's "Anti Bhaiya" tirade and still act as "Event Management coordinator" of Raj Thakrey.

Vilas rao Deshmukh's survival tactics should be taught in Management Schools. It will help students a lot in surviving recession. He is a real GEM from Maharshtra.

It is a brilliant move. India deos not have balls to hang him. I am sure he is still getting expert advise from his Pakistani godfathers but the question is who is relaying the message . Do we have a traitor ? It seems like he is stillbeing controlled by people sitting in P{akistan.
