The gurmehar tragedy

The placards Gurmehar held, and her tweets suggest, rather shockingly, that she has/harbours a very low opinion about her father, shri Mandeep Singh!
'Martyr' implies a person who even sacrifices one's life, for upholding a principle or cause that he/she respects and cherishes. When Gurmehar asserts that her father 'died in a war', and 'wasn't killed by Pakistanis'-------- she is implying that her father was actually a mere mercenary who was not above killing people, as long as he got paid for it.
Obviously, by her reckoning, her father would have just as cold bloodedly, killed fellow Indians------so long as he got paid for it! It was just his bad luck that HE got killed that day, instead of he killing someone, and getting paid for it.
---------All one can conclude is that poor Mandeepji was extremely unfortunate in spawning such an ungrateful daughter.
May God grant him eternal peace!

Re: The gurmehar tragedy

A further tragedy is that quite a few veterans agree and support her claims.
What it unfortunately means is that calling every soldier who 'dies in action', a martyr, is wrong.

Re: The gurmehar tragedy

Her wiki page shows that she was trying to hit some woman in Burkha when her ammijan explained this to her.

But she still seems to have held on when she grew up.

Anyway, some one needs to explain to her the concept of 'Proximate cause'. For example if some one jumps a red light and hits a car and damages it, the proximate cause of car being damaged is jumping the red light, not the collision itself.

The Proximate cause of Kargil war was Musharraf suddenly deciding to indulge in a bravado. 4 months before that, ABV did that historic Bus trip to Lahore with Shatru Bhaiyya, Dev Anand, Javed Akhtar, etc..

The Proxomate cause of her father's death were Kashimir Terrorists trained by ISI.

Could she modify her placard to 'Pakistan did not Kill my Father, Kashmiri Terrorists did'.
