LAJJA - heavy but i would give 3 stars

Story of 4 women, vaidehi, janki, maithili, ramdulari that takes us from New York to remote village in bihar and in the way the heroine manisha (vaidehi) encountering various characters. bottomline is women are persecuted as well as saved by men, on one hand are people like Jackie (who later has a change of heart), danny, and 'uth jaynege' (dunno his name) and on the other we have anil kapoor, ajay devgan, but ultimately it rests with women themselves to fight it out....
some of the things seem exhagerated like the father-in-law to be whose thirst for money is limitless or the hubby-to-be who is as idiot as can be. but many things can really happen and that too very much openly - for ex lynching of a woman (by a whole lot of people!!!) or rape at the hands of jamindar, is what is frightening.

I was going to write a review of this movie .. but saw it had already been reviewed before. Anyway here it is ...

This is the story ....

First mantra ..
"All men are bastards.

Some men may be good.
But all men are bastards"

Second Mantra..
"All women are goddesses.
All women are goddesses.
All women are exploited and raped
All women are goddesses."

Repeat mantras one and two for 3 hours ... movie over.
