Question If Kerry wins the 2004 election, how will Wall Street respond?

This is one question which might affect you whether you support Bush or Kerry.

Currently the stocks are doing okay and Wall Street is not in a panic which we saw after the Internet bubble burst.

Its a well known fact that Wall Street also gets affected by who is in the White House.

Say, Kerry wins in Nov. 2004. What will be the effect on Wall Street - short time and long time?

Your opinions based on how Kerry's policies will affect the economic policy of USA and then affect Wall Street would be quite interesting to know.

I hope I can get some discussion without getting into Bush is this and Kerry is that and the usual pro/anti Bush/Kerry rhetoric

one thing I know for sure.. thoda offshoring kam hoga...

Wall Street thode din up jayega but in long term neeche as offshoring nahi ho raha hoga..

Wall Street responds in a way which suits bull or bears based on who is controlling market at that time.. kindz..

But I think Kerry is honestly going to do something for social security and medical.. so overall wall street ka fatega thoda

This is all BS. He won't be able to succeed in stopping outsourcing. One of the major sources of money for these politicians is "soft money," which comes from the industry. And industry today wants to do outsourcing so no matter what he thinks there will be outsourcing. Also, if you read his so called manifesto you'll realize that he is talking about bringing the manufacturing jobs back. I am sure that won't be easy either because there are not whole lot of manufacturing companies in US of A.

As far as the impact on the Street, it will all depend on the state of the economy. If the economy is healthy market will boom otherwise doom. Gone are the days of irrational exuberance. The Street now wants to see the top line and bottomline growth.

It is the ECONOMY stupid

I guess you keep on hearing this term again and again on TV and Radio.

I think that the US economy can hold on itw own. The presedential policies make subtle difference. But reccssion or BOOM in the market does not solely happen because of the policies. Economy has the means of correcting itself. Boom and bust are just the economic life cycle. You can not predict it.

But I think good times are coming back for the US economy.

What about effect of Kerry's plans for 'socialised medicine' on pharmaceutical, healthcare and medical industries?

If all were to get free medical care, wont medical insurance companies see red? If pharma's are forced to sell medicines at artifically controlled lower costs like Canada, wont these companies loose revenues and the will to invest in R & D for new drugs?

Anyone knoweldgeable about this, please shed light.
