Re: English equivalent of Hindi/vernacular proverbs/idioms

Difference between 'mohabbat' and 'pyaar'?

From the Talat Mehmood song in Parchaiin (1952):
Mohabbat hi ne jo samjhe, woh zalim pyaar kya jaane
Nikalti dil ke taaron se, jo hai jhankar kya jaane

Is there just a noun/verb kind of difference, or is the shayar hinting at something deeper?
