For my son or my husband, anytime. For Strangers, only if I'm about to die from chronic disease or something.

What if the organ you donate ro your family member , puts your life in danger (You may die during operation ) ?
Will you still do it ? (Your husband & son need you .)

I dont what bee is stuck up your respective bonnets but PLEASE STOP BEING MORONS HERE. Every thread has a one on one hurling of nonsense by each of you at each other
If you hate each others' guts then exchange your 'messages of love' on your own email and not on eCharcha!
As to the thread -
I hear that the kidney is the only thing that can be donated and you can still live. If a kidney was needed by a very close and dear person like wife, brother, sister or parent then I would donate it to save a life. I would not sell my organs for any amount of money.

Yes I would. For a close friend or a family member I would not even think once forget about thinking twice. For strangers depends on what they want.. if they want a kidney etc.. no.. bone marrow.. yes.. blood yes.
I have told my folks that in case of death all the recycleable parts should be removed and the rest can be done away with as they seem fit.

I would, especially for my son. Cuz he has a lot to see & do in his life. I've seen & done enough for a 24 year old so I'd rather let my son live than myself. There is selfish reason behind it too. I would not be able to take the loss of either my son or hubby cuz I love them too much. So I rather die for them than live w/out them.

and blood and have donated blood before.
Kidney is something which will affect the rest of my life too from a physiological stand point. So I would donate it to only a dear and near one.
I would not sell any organ like a kidney for money to a stranger.

Your answer brings a random thought to my mind. However we plan our lives there are always circumstances that lay the path for our future. And these are the times when we have to believe in GOD. There is no Ram, no Allah just a super being who can pull us out. May GOD always prevail hapiness in your family.
Yes even I would give up any organ in my body or for that matter my life if it helps my family.

Their is a woman in my neighbourhood in my hometown , whoose kidneys(both of them ) have failed and she needs atleast one kidney to survive .
Earlier she was on dialysis( dunno how to spell it ) once a week and now she has to go for it twice a week.Gradually the frequency would go on increasing .And when she is on Dialysis twice a week this in laymans langiuage means , that she has lost all her memory which in medical parlance is called amnesia and she has absolutely no senses left right now .She doesnt even know how to go to the toilet to ease her self and everything is being done on the bed .
Her blood group is different from the blood group of both her children and her husband.
You cannot donate a kidney at all unless -
Poin1> The blood group is the same , so if your spouse / children etc have a different blood group then even if u wish to donate u just can't .
Point2>Even if the blood group is the same , still only 15% chances are their that the reciever's body would not be allergic to a new foreign body recieved and would accept it without causeing further complexities .THis is one point due to which many transplants fail.
Point3>The kidney donator's blood has to be medically fit for donation only then you can donate otherwise not .
Point4> Saying that you would donate a kidney right now sounds very hypothetical , when faced with the real incidence is something alltogether different and many won't be able to donate it actually though donating it virtually on echarcha sounds very noble and halo deserving .I cud have given much nobler and applauding answers , but better be practical and honest .
So the bottom line is that saying is one thing and doing another .
For some reasons I cant donate blood .Hope this answers the tinda's and those who were asking me what has christianity taught me ?

there is a small operation after death to take the recyclable organs out and its neat. nobody knows that they are taken out from you ( NOT EVEN YOU ;))
dont think like there ll be some mess after taking them out... NO
BUT Its all upto you people, if your heart said yes then yes otherwise NO
but do research for the informations to clear all your doubts then you may have the solid reason to deny

Since 1982, the Red Cross has provided lifesaving and life-enhancing tissue (heart valve, skin, ligament, tendon, bone, major blood vessel, fascia- muscle covering) to more than 600,000 people.
We also operate a national dental program to provide bone powder materials that enhance new bone growth in a variety of periodontal procedures.
All tissue is procured and processed in a sterile environment. Donor coordinators work with each donor family to obtain a medical history of the donor. Each donors is tested for diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis.
Donated tissue is then processed into almost 400 forms that are either freeze-dried, frozen or fresh. The processed tissue is then used in orthopedic, neurologic, plastic, cardiovascular and oral reconstructive surgery.
Examples of the ways in which tissue is used include the following:
Repair bone defects
Reconstruct total joints (hip and knee)
Treatment of burn injuries
Spinal surgery (fusion, correction of scoliosis)
Replace bone loss from trauma
Salvage limbs following tumor surgery
Periodontal surgery (dental implants)
To become a donor, you sign a donor card or designate your intention on your driver's license. Most importantly, you must inform your loved ones about your decision.
