[with due respects to sikhs]
The US gun law is the same as the Sikh religion where a kirpal is considered an integral part of the Sikh.
In the US, right to firearms and possession of fireams is considered a birthright.
How do you propose to change a birthright?

first kirpan can't be used except when clearly fighting evil... to do otherwise is going against the scriptures... second no kid can kill 14 people in school with a kirpan... in fact even an adult could not kill more than one or two even if he used a sword as his kirpan... a gun n a kirpan can't even be compared... do u know an oozy shhots out 300 bullets in a minute... do u think a kirpan can kill 300 people in a minute??? third and most important kirpan need not be a big sword... even a nailcuter knife would satisfy the requirement of the religion (and yes many sikhs these days wear a kirpan that's excatly that size or even smaller)... the sikh scriptures are clear on that... in fact many sikh scholars these days advise against the use of a big swords as a kirpans... if a school thinks a kid's kirpan is too dangerous they can advise him to wear a much smaller one n they would be prefectly within their rights to do so.... so u see even the religion is accomodating itself to the changing times... now coming back to the topic... do u know if u're kid is safe???

The last time there was a shootout at a school, I had read some report that in a survey done in the Western (developed) Countries, they found that the gun crimes were far less as compared to USA. These countries do not allow possession of guns by citizens like the USA.
I think parents need to monitor what their kids do and how they react to many things.
Also, locking up your guns and making them hard to access by children would be an immediate step if not a final solution.
Whatever I read abotu the San Diego shootings, there is no mention how the kid got the gun in the first place.
In all past school shootings, the gun usually belonged to the parents of the shooting suspects.
Well, I dont know what it is that makes these young students go so haywire, but I feel unsafe about children in schools here in USA.
