View Full Version : Bajrang Dal Against The Release Of CCCC

March 3rd, 2001, 02:14 PM
The Bajrang Dal today warned cinema halls and cable operators against screening of the Salman Khan, Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta starrer Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, allegedly funded by ISI-underworld nexus, and said it will "go to any extent" to stall its release in Delhi on March 9.

This is the first step taken by the Bajrang Dal to "remove" the underworld's influence on Bollywood, a Dal spokesman told PTI. Since Bharat Shah, financier of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke is alleged to have links with the underworld.

"We will not allow the film to be screened here at any rate because its profits will be reaching anti-national elements and be used against the country's interests," he said.

A committee has been constituted under the Dal's Delhi Chief Satyendra Mohan, to ensure that the film is not released in Delhi, the spokesman said adding that all theatres and cable operators have been warned that if they try to screen the film it will be at their own risk.

Meanwhile, VHP's Delhi unit working President Om Prakash Singal said the Dal will not allow gau hatya (cow slaughter) during the festival of Id-ul-Azha, the spokesman said.

He said the Bajrang Dal activists had been asked to help the police in the area by informing about any incident of cow slaughter, which is banned in Delhi.

It is a well known fact that there are many producers and directors in the hindi film industry who have links with the underworld. The funds have been coming in since a longtime and will continue in the future.
It is definitely a bold step by the Bajarang Dal ...........but let's wait and watch if they succeed at their mission.
I wish them good luck !!

Anyway, has anybody seen that film? If yes , please post your review as I would like to know if it's worth spending my money on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sure this is a bold and constructive step by the bajrang dal towards ending the influence of the underworld on the Indian cinema.

We all should support this move by not purchasing the tickets of Chori..chori....at the theatre or by seeing it on viseo..

Jai Hind !!

I dont say that having links with the underworld is great and noble.

But think of it this way. India makes the largest amount of films in the world, second maybe to Hollywood, every year.

The difference in Indian Bollywood/Tollywood/Mollywood and the US Hollywood is this.
In US, the film industry is recognised as a industry

In India no one recognises the film industry as one. Especially the government and the financial institutions.

So what happens? Okay, no producer in India can go to a financial instituion or a bank and ask for a loan to make a film. Here in Hollywood, studios can raise money from many sources like banks, instituitions, corporates and even the stock market.

This lack of a financial infrastructure forces our film makers to reach for alternative and many times dubious sources for finance.

We just cant blame every film maker for turning to alternate sources of finance and say that this is wrong and that is right.

Has any government ever taken the film industry seriously in terms of the money matters? Our buffoons in power can pardon huge loans and electricty bills to farmers which literally cost the exchequer far more money than it would cost a bank if a film it financed tanked at the box office.

I live in Juhu, Mumbai (now I am in US) wher the film world is all around. I have known a few folks who really have good scripts and commercial 'masala' to make films but cannot due to lack of finance. They dont have or maybe dont want to take finance from underworld. Well, many of them have turned to TV serial production which is lower in cost than feature films. But all cannot make just TV serials. We still need great masala entertainers from Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai, David Dhawan and others :) and serious stuff like Sarfarsoh, Droh Kaal and the like too..

......

Not it is not second to Hollywood.

Indian film industry makes the largest number of films in the whole world, second to none.
