Last night we were watching a new film by Mahesh Bhatt called [b]Raaz[/]b
Well the star cast was new comers and some recent entries like Biapsha Basu, but we saw it as it was by Mahesh Bhatt.
Well, we knew that Mahesh Bhatt makes copies of Hollywood films, but still we gave it a shot.
The story is about a house in ooty owned by the hero and his famly. The hero (Dino Moriya or some such name) Aditya Dhanraaj is married to Sanjana (Biapasha Basu) and now they are almost going to break up as husband has no time for wife. He is busy with his "karodo ka dhanda aur deals".
Well, they come to this love cottage to re-start their life and try to get back together.
Now this cottage is haunted. The "attma" (spirit) has already eneterd one girl's body and killed her. Now it haunts and taunts the heroine Sanjana.
Then there is a professior Agni played by Ashutosh Rana who still has a hangover from his role as a maniacal rapist from Dushmaan.
Anyway this professor can sense "aatmas" and guides the heroine on how to detect aatama that is haunting her.
Just like the movie Evil Dead he gives her a book to read from so that aatma can come.
Mahesh Bhatt has tried to copy Ramsey brothers and made this into a desi thriller and horror film. But he fails. The story moves along too slowly and in a thriller the pace is spoiled when you have stupid songs and dances.
After a while it struck me that I have seen this movie before. Well it was rip off of the Harrison Ford starrer "What lies beneath". The original was also a bore and so is the remake.
It seems the hero has an afffair after his marriage with a local Ooty girl and he has killed her. The aatma is actually this girl coming back to haunt the heroine.
At this point we realy shut off the movie and did not watch the end. The positive point was that we did not watch this stupid movie in a theatre and waste 16 bucks. Just a buck at the local grocery store saved us 15 bucks.
