Jagatguru condemns enemies of love
New Delhi, February 14
(PTI)
THE JAGATGURU Shankaracharya of Kashi Sumeru Peeth Swami Narendranand Saraswati on Wednesday condemned violent anit-Valentine's Day protests by Shiv Sainiks even as the police mounted vigil across the Capital to prevent any untoward incident.
"By indulging in such acts, they (Sainiks) are only damaging property and assets of the nation, this is wrong," the Varanasi-based seer, who is in the capital, said.
"The youth of the country should be educated about the richness of our culture and the vulgarity behind such celebrations," he said.
VHP senior vice-president Acharya Giriraj Kishore had yesterday disapproved of the Sena's threat to disrupt Valentine's Day celebration but said the festival was alien to Indian culture.
Police are maintaining a strict vigil at all venues of the Valentine's Day celebrations particularly hotels, cinemas and restaurants in the capital.
Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Suresh Roy said no one will be allowed to take law into their hands. Sena's Delhi unit chief Jai Bhagwan Goel said his party has formed 50 special youth squads comprising 25 activists each to disrupt the 'uncultured function'.
if my undertanding is correct then Jagatguru is equivalent to pope so now how can people who are banning valentines day explain their actions??
