Would commercialising Indian sports on TV help?

We already have cricket which is very commercialised and hence one of the most successful games in India - atleast on TV and radio and other media. People follow it quite religiously.

What do you think about commercialising other games like kabbadi and basket ball and volley ball.

Basically change the format a bit and package it as a 1 hour 30 minute event. We could then have local teams like they have here. Have a ational level league and make it a sports package for Indians to watch after a long day at office.

I think if we do this, we can have alternatives to just degrees in engineering or medicine or commerce as a career.

Commercialization of cricket succeeded because it is very popular in India..In fact it is more popular here than any other country.....

Same thing cannot be said about other games like basket ball or volleyball....the reason is India do not stand anywhere in international rankings in these games.....People are going to watch league level games only if our team has got recognition worlwide...

But in tennis and hockey it might be a good idea......
