View Full Version : Ajnabee - Wife swapping, confusion, childish suspense and even Johnny Lever fails

Due to recession.com and instabilit-at-project.com, Shama and I again saw a new movie for a buck by renting a DVD.
Well Ajnabee has Kareena Kapoor, some new model and Akshay Kumar and Bobby Deol.
There are supporting characters played by Johnny Lever and one more Sardarji.
The film is about an elaborate plot to kill and collect life insurance. You dont know what is really happening as the film gives you an impression that it is about wife swapping. I thought this was a new topic handled in Hindi films. Then it turns back to the plot to kill to collect insurance.
I was surprised that one can transfer money fromn Swiss banks in Lakh denominations and not in the usual million or hundred thousand.
Well, I dont want to go into the details of the movie as it was boring. I anticipated the climax and dozed off to sleep leaving Shama to complete the insipid finale.
Johnny Lever is my favorite comedian since last few years but he fails at portraying the Bengali character and sounds more like a Nepali Gurkha.
Basically avoid in theater... maybe watch it for the scenic Switzerland unless you have not seen it before in all the HIndi films which have it as regular locale.

Something might work out here in West Coast itself.
Right now moving to east coast for a short term project will be more expensive. Will surely ask for your help if I really cannot continue here.
Thanks a lot Sheena.

Right now moving completely seems improbable. I can commute to some project if I get one in East Coast by staying a motel etc.
Shama is also looking for a job. So am I.. I cannot quit my company till I get my green card. It should come anytime now. Some colleagues got theirs very recently. So mine should also come.
Hope things work out.
Anyway, desibaba do add your comments on the movie Ajnabee:D
yes that actress is dumb at acting but quite hot :D

i have seen the movie
it is based on theme of wife swaping, not very common in india but becomming popular day by day among middleclass indians.film maker has tried to touch this issue but got confused to present in common indian taste. because of this reason story has been tilted from main theme to masala type end .and finally film became confused and boring
but filmmaker have made sincere effort to present the vibrant issue of wife swaping which is unconventional to indian culture

Its all rumor man, Indian mentality of men and women, dont ever allow them to go for it (with each other knowledge), though I know there are plenty of extra marital relationship.
Anyhow Rajesh, repeating same question of eNRI, Which part of India you are from ????

You have reacted so sharply that I wish to withdraw my opinion about w/s
It is good that you are concerned about culture and values of Indians, there is no denial about this.but you will agree that over years values have been deteroated .you can see the film of 60s,70s and now you will that our taste living style sexual habits have been changed a lot.film maker know about liking make the films accordingly.
The word wife swaping, lesb was unheard in India, and no filmmaker had ever touched this issue, but in the recent past a movie has been made on theme of lesbn.in spite of protest it was box office successs.you will find ads. In the newspaper ,magazine internet about clubs, broadminded people, which were not found earlier
