Though I have given up alcohol of all sorts more than 3 years ago, I remember my college days an then working life days when a drink or two 'for the road' woul d induce a good sized hangover. :D

Well, I wanted to note down what each of us did to cure our hangovers :D

I will start with what we used to do in college days:

Keep a little for the morning. We used to call it 'utaraa' means 'utarna' in Hindi. So first thing in the morning, have a little which is left over from last night. This sort of eases the groggy feeling. Then brush your teeth and have strong chai with some bread (pav).

Here is something that came up when I googled this topic ;)

How to Cure a Hangover With Bananas

ananas have remedy qualities that even include helping you recover from a hangover. We take bananas for granted, yet they help with depression, heart disease, bone health, cramps and so much more.

1
Start by eating a regular banana after you've had a big night out and are now suffering from a hangover. Peel a banana, relax and sit down and eat the banana slowly. This will help cure your hangover. If necessary, eat two and digest them for 40 minutes without running off to do errands.

2
Heal your hangover by making a banana milkshake the morning after. Mix up some milk and a whole banana in a blender with some ice. Add some sugar or honey if you like. This will give your body extra energy and fuel to make it through the day.

3
Chop up some bananas and put them in a bowl with some cream or milk to calm your stomach. Calcium has calming affects for most people, unless you are lactose intolerant. If you like add other healthy fruits such as oranges, blueberries, melons and apples.

4
Make a banana and honey sandwich to start your day off right and cure your hangover. Smooth the banana on some toast, add some honey, and butter if you like. The bread helps your stomach feel more stable and the banana will heal some of your headache, aches, and pains.

5
Freeze a few peeled bananas for at least a day before you plan to go out partying. The morning after, lick the banana like a popsicle and calm your stomach. This will eventually cure and take some of the hangover pain away. Use corn prongs if you cannot pick up the banana.

Someone's all obsessed with bananas.. I'm not sure sure about this cure.. N'er heard of this.

Over the years during my drinking binges this has worked quite well for me.. Have lots of water before sleeping and the next morning to hydrate yourself, preferably with some lemon, salt and sugar.

Pace you drinks so you don't get too intoxicated.. this comes with experience of drinking.. you tend to enjoy the drinking much more this way, drink lesser quantity and never go over the edge.. helps in not having a hangover at all most of the times.

Drink less often but buy the good stuff.. don't go for cheap liquors which often cause big hangovers.

I am not sure you can 'cure' hangover.
But you can certainly prevent it. Just don't stop drinking.

hangover is mainly due to dehydration because your body is working overtime to remove the toxicity .

Hence the sure shot solution is to drink good quantity of water before sleep after you had a good amount to drink .

It all comes down to understanding how your system works :D

why is it called a hangover by the way...because it hangs you over...I mean like suspended by the bum kind of thing???

with all the water I think everyone is suggesting...you would need to sleep with diapers??

I have never tried the poor man's elixir, so I wouldnt know...pata naheen kiske saath pehla peg likha hai...ya likha bhi hai ke naheen...

When you drink a lot or when whatever amount you drink makes you very high, its not possible to drink much water before sleep. So you need a cure the next morning :D

Also another tip from what I learnt from my seniors in college and tried myself - Sometimes when you drink too much, your head spins and you cannot sleep. When you try to sleep you feel disoriented and just cant sleep. Simple cure is to wash your face by splashing water several times. Then wiping your face clean and applying Vicks Vaporub on your forehead, chest and nose as if you have a real cold. Then you lie down in bed and cover yourself with a blanket or just a chaddar. Soon your mind focuses on the smell of the Vicks and you dont get those headspin feelings. You will have a sound sleep.

In such a case, one more thing to do before the Vicks formula is to have couple of slices of bread without any condiments like butter or jam. Or some plain rice without any daal or pickle. It seems the bread and rice 'absorb' the alcohol in your stomach. Dont know the exact science behind this but it works.
