That's possible. It could be her cell phone number that she got on a New York address, then moved to San Diego but kept her original number. Also, one could pretty much get a phone numbers in any area code through Google Voice for free.

Aisa kya ?

Means, mobile number and landline number are almost the same ?

Here in India you can easily know if its a landline or a mobile number.

Bahut complicated jagah hi bhai USA acha hua passport ke liye apply nahi kiya

Number could be on call-forward. Give person benefit of doubt.

As far as I know calls can be forwarded only to local numbers and not accross states or countries.
I can be wrong on this

Yes, cell phone and landline numbers have the same 10-digit format: (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

As one great scholar once said, "Number could be on call-forward. Give person benefit of doubt."

In the US, when you sign up for VoIP phone services like Vonage or Magic Jack, you have a choice to pick up any number you want. I know a few folks who have purposely selected a New York 212 area code number for sake of business.

So you can sit in San Diego and have a Boston number if you want. Earlier it was not possible because you had to rely on land line providers like PacBell and MCI and AT&T. Now with VoIP phones and cell phones, you can get any number.

i dont think thats possible even in india. there used to [and still might be] some online directories of telephony service providers where one could search fixed line phones by name or do a reverse lookup etc. but that rarely used to give the exact wanted information. there is no such online directory for cell phones.
VOIP is internet based so location transparency comes by default. but telephone state codes are present in america. if u have a fixed line or cell phone based from colorado, they both will have the same state code [first 3 digits]

Soniya just try googling it, you may be lucky enough to find the address. A lot of telephone directories of USA are open to all unless the user has specified it as invisible.
