Can one make calls over Internet? are any of them really free?

Voice chats are long known.

Pls share direct experiences, if any, w.r.t:

calls over Internet to mobile phones in India.
calls over Internet to landline phones in India.

direct experience please. no googling suggestions or try this & try that.

thanks in advance.

I use Skype, a little expensive than other providers...but conferences are easy... voice don't break or lag and if people at other end have comp then it is free. You can go for voip if you like. I am not aware of any free services save what google has started recently, with that you can call US, Canada for free.

I use skype for PC to LL/cell...We normally have 4 way conferences and except me all others use their phone mostly... and it is seldom we face any problems. Call to India LL/cell is 10c/min I believe. UK cell is pretty expensive though.

I have used Yahoo messenger paid service for few years nos, as well as Gmail's latest. I haven't encountered any problems to fixed lines or mobiles.

Use Rynga (http://www.rynga.com/) but not free.
