View Full Version : How would have Pandvas and Draupadi managed?

Desi Baawra
June 18th, 2010, 12:25 PM
Thinking today that Draupadi was first wife of all the five Pandu Brothers. The question is how would they have managed the sex thing. Means as it was first marriage for every brother the sex quotient would have been very high offcourse. Now Mother Kunit told them to share 'her' so they never would have disconsented to it.

But the questions arises is that how they planned their time with Draupadi. Daily basis, Weekly basis or monthly basis (most unlikely). Or a Gang-bang may be. If daily basis what about weekends.

Any thoughts.

It was yearly basis afaik. Once it was Yudhisthir's slot and Arjuna had to enter bedroom to get his Gandeev(it was urgent). Arjuna caught them in act and had to pay for it.

I think the time was decided. Not sure how, but it was pre planned.
Once Arjun walked in when it was supposed to be Yudhister's time and he was punished accordingly:whacky:

Holy book of Islam was written 1200 or so years ago. Bible is less than 2000 years old. Our Ramayana and Mahabharat are considered to be anywhere between 4000 to 7000 years old.

Many incidents and stories contained in Holy books were symbolic of an era which ceased to exist long long ago ... logic and meanings have been lost with the passage of time.

I don't believe Duraupadi was married to 5 pandavas. I don't believe Krishna stood on a balcony throwing down to Duraupadi hundreds of meters of sari, frustrating bad guy who was trying to unwrap the sari.

You are having fun ... I know. If these stories gives you a good erection ... good for you.

You mean she had affair with others as well....so between one brother leaving and another entering the room...she gave chance to all Kaurav except Duryodhan and Dushashan....maybe one of the Kauravs (the only guy with balls that day who spoke out against Duryodhan) got lucky one too many times:D...I think everyone in that room except for Dhritrashtra, Shakuni, Karna, Duryodhan and Dushashan got laid with Draupadi....and so had no incentive to look at her while she was being disrobed:D

Ive been working on Mahabharat and Ramayan and trying to understand what it means. This is what I think happened - (Just a theory. Please don't ask me to prove it or a link.)

1. Duryodhan = Durya(evil) + udhan (dawn) = Dawn of evil. Which parent would name her son Duryodhan? His name was Suryodhan (Dawn of Sun) and changed by victors to Duryodhan. Similarly, Sushasan (Good Ruler) was changed to Dushasan (Bad ruler)

2. The reason for the war was - who should rule - "Eldest son's eldsest son, or eldest grandson. One has to understand a paradoxhere - if pandavas rule (eldest sibling), by the same logic, the eldest son of the padavas was Ghatotkacha - a rakshas.

3. Was Karna really Draupadi's first son? It appears more likely that he was a Dalit who rose due to his ability. They had to "make him princely" later on to avoid Dalit Uprising. After all, Spartacus the slave who nearly brought down the Roman empire was called a "Greek" by people during the event, but a "Roman" by later historians. They did not want anyone to think that anyone but Romans could ever be successful

Just some thoughts.

Duryodhan was Suryodhan and Dushashan was Sushashan is well known.

There are many "single reason"s for the war-

One says Mahabharat was actually a war between Shakuni and Bhishma Pitamaha. Gandhari marrying blind Dhritrashtra was the sole reason for Shakuni to pledge destruction of the entire vansh of Bhishma.

Another says, Draupadi's "Andhey ka beta Andha" statement was the sole reason.

Another one is revenge sought by Amba (of the amba-ambika-ambalika trio) bcoz Bhismha declined to marry her. She was reborn as Shikhandi and was the ultimate cause of Bhishma's collapse in the war.

There r many more.

All the quoted reasons sound reasonable. Even the great Bhishma had erred by taking the sisters by force from their swayamvar. No wonder Amba was furious and she had to take revenge sooner or later. That's why guys...never underestimate a woman ;).

Right Anon pai... it is well known that Duryodhan(दु:+योधन) was सुयोधन and दु:शासन(thats how it is spelt) was सुशासन.... but as you know, reputation precedes a man... these two fellows were really popular among junta for their philanthropy... thus the name.

In the end Mahabharat can be sourced to a single reason, that being... Pandavs asked for five villages... Duryodhan dint agree.. Pandavs ne kauravs ki maa behan ek kar di... Laathi was the order of the day... Duryodhan was not a good politician... had to pay.

Thats right. He even broke his tooth (had gold) to donate when Krishna and Arjun came to him (in disguise) while he was on his death bed.

Duryodhan was not a good politician... had to pay.

When Pandavs died and went to heaven, they were surprised to see that Duryodhan & company were already there. This is because they adhered to dharma. On the other hand Draupadi had a preference for Arjun and thus infidel to other Pandavs so she was punished before she could go to heaven.

Is Mahabharat the story of Pandavs or do you think it is impartial to Kauravs as well?

Conphoosed here .. this has always bugged me.

its a stretch, but one can remotely believe the story of the Mahabharata as reported/narrated by witnesses and finally compiled by the writer. But .. and this is a big but ... who the fook reported the parts of the story from heaven/hell/purgatory??????

The correct diagnosis is OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Philanthropic Disorder). Poor Karna, never learnt to say NO... another reason why good parental care is needed and babies are not to be abandoned in river streams...

It is pretty sick that Krishna and Arjun would ask for a broken tooth from a guy on deathbed, specially when you shoot an arrow on someone, then disguise, and then land up there asking for five grams of gold from tooth. Man, does gold drive people crazy or what....

एक प्रॉब्लम हुई लक्ष्मण भ्राता |

Laxman suggests:

If that does not work, use the queueing theory funda. There is first in first out / last in first out (sad) / Random / Round Robin and Priority. I think the last one applied to Arjun in Draupadi's mind. May be I was wrong about school not helping in day to day life.

Most likely a grudge me thinks.. YOu know because of one brother's over zeal to propogate his genes other brother cannot share during the time period alloted to him . And the cycle continued until everyone had one .

Both Nakula and Sahadeva got married to someone else also.

I binged that and it was confusing. The key person is Jarasandh who was killed by Bheem. I am confused about the following:

- Jarasandh had two daughters, Asti and Prapti, married to the Kansa.
- Nakul married Jarasandh's daughter - don't know which one; he also had another wife Karenumati, daughter of the king of Chedi.
- Sahadev married Vijaya, the daughter of Dyutimat, the king of Madra.
- Sahadev's son Suhotra married Jarasandh's granddaughter

Questions:
- Did Suhhotra married Nakul's daughter? That would be a no-no because they were cousins
- Did Nakul married a widow (i.e. Jarasandha's daughter that was earlier married to Kansa who was killed by Krishna)?

Was monogamy illegal in Mahabharata times? Ek se kaam chalta hi nahi that kya? The more you search the more wives you find for these noble souls...

You are right about the yearly arrangement and she had to purify herself by walking on fire in each transition.

Since a guy cannot service these many wives I am sure they turned to someone else. Even if it was one wife every night it would take 40 days for Arjuna to get back to the first one. That is too long, I don't think they would wait that long.
