You need to separate the deity from the stone. Did I say anything negative about Krishna in that post? So how did I bad mouth a deity? You see a deity - I see a marble scuplture that is inaccurate (color of skin, flute etc). So I comment on what I see - not on what you perceive.
BTW, in that case you must be tired of giving negative reps to all the people who bad mouth ANY deity (or god or prophet or baba). How do you give so many negative reps?

You got to understand where humor can be tolerated. You may be a Muslim... but you can at least leave threads where Hindus post their religious greetings alone.

Yes they are marble statues ... I will tell you a story ... I know you dont like them cuz a similar story probably will not be found in Jain or Hindu or Christian or Islamic Scriptures ...
There is a Zen Master known as Tanka Tennen (Tennen in chinese means "absolutley natural) ...
TANKA TENNEN STOPPED OVERNIGHT IN A TEMPLE. IT WAS SO COLD THAT HE MADE A FIRE OF ONE OF THE WOODEN BUDDHA STATUES. WHEN HE WAS CHASTISED THE FOLLOWING MORNING BY THE TEMPLE MONKS, TANKA EXPLAINED THAT HE HAD BURNED THE STATUE SO HE COULD TAKE BUDDHA’S BONES.
”HOW COULD A WOODEN STATUE HAVE BONES?” A MONK ASKED TANKA TENNEN.
”THEN WHY HAVE YOU CHASTISED ME?” REPLIED TANKA.
The bones here figuratively means the flowers ... Just as in Hindu rituals after a person dies, 3 days after the relatives go and pick up the bones or in other words flowers ... It represents the essence of the person when he was living ... but only that person who was enlightened ...

No it doesnt ... I see more as a marble that is carved in some form .. It might as well me ... A spit on that statue does not imply that it is on me ... Neither that statue is me nor the marble ...

There is another version of the story that probably may not be factual but I like it anyways ...
It was not in the morning that Tanka Tennen was found, it was in the middle of the night when the priests saw a fire burning in the temple, because they were sleeping in the temple. The high priest came running: ”Are you mad or something? What are you doing? You have burned one of my most
valuable Buddhas!”
Then Tanka took his staff – and the Buddha was almost burned – and he started looking for flowers with his staff in the ashes of the Buddha. The high priest said, ”What are you doing?” He said, ”I am looking for Buddha’s flowers. I have heard that Buddha has bones, and those bones
turn into flowers. I am looking for those flowers.” The high priest laughed. He said, ”You are certainly insane. It was just a wooden statue, it was not
a buddha!” And Tanka Tennen said, ”Aha! So it was not the Buddha! And the night is still long and very cold, and you have so many wooden statues; just bring one or two more.”
The high priest said, ”You are a very dangerous fellow! I cannot allow you to stay in the temple.” And he forced Tanka Tennen outside the temple in the middle of the night. It was cold winter, icy cold, and Tanka Tennen said, ”What are you doing? You are my high priest, and you are throwing me out. Just to keep your wooden statues safe, you are throwing the buddha
out!” But the high priest did not listen, he just pushed him out and closed the doors.
And in the morning when he opened the doors, Tanka Tennen was sitting by the side of the road by a milestone. He had collected a few wildflowers, and he had put those wildflowers on the milestone, and he was sitting there reciting a beautiful mantra that the disciples of Buddha used to recite
before him: Buddham sharanam gachchhami – I go to the feet of the buddha; Sangham sharanam gachchhami – I go to the feet of those who are the commune of the awakened one; Dhammam sharanam gachchhami – I go to the feet of the ultimate truth.
The priest said, ”Listen, you burned my Buddha – that was an insane act. Now you are doing even more mad behavior. This is a milestone, not a Buddha, and you have put flowers on it, and you are going to the feet of this milestone!”
Tanka Tennen said, ”It is the same, just an excuse. You have wooden statues as an excuse, I have this stone. Hidden in it there is a stone Buddha. If some sculptor takes out all the unnecessary pieces, a Buddha will appear. Any excuse will do. I burned one of your excuses and you were so angry. This is just the same as your wooden statue; and neither does this stone have Buddha’s bones.
”I was simply wanting, in the early morning sun, with this beautiful breeze, and flowers fragrant all around, and the birds chirping and making their joyful sounds... I have to show my gratitude to the man who is the source of my family. Without him, perhaps, there would not have been so many enlightened people.

Here comes the sutras .... bhago !!!
See I told you these are not sutras ... these are just stories ... one does not need to be dogmatic about it ... You can take it or leave it ... It was just an example to signify the utilitarian purpose of things around us and that also includes statues ...
the funny thing is that the statue cant speak and that is probably the reason it is worshiped ... if it were a human being, I am sure the worshiping would have stopped, for either the person will say, "you are not worshiping me enough, or it would say, please stop the melodrama" ...Unfortunately, stones cant say much ...
Another thing I understood is that if folks keep quiet i.e. they are submissive and do not question, then they are assumed to be like stones but still not worshipped ... On the other hand, to worship a stone, one needs a mentality like a stone (rigid, dogmatic yet submissive) ... No wonder nothing has changed on the face of this earth where stones keep worshiping stones and keep ignoring the real humans around them ...

That is what Smelly was saying ...
Plus, there is no need for someone to tell me what the divine figure is ... It might as well be a stone with no form or nothing ... just me meditating ... There is no reason to argue on the idea as to what the stone represents ...I myself havent yet found it and you seem to know by looking at the statue ... If you were to know what you claim, you wouldnt be here clapping and thumping your hands and being offended by a statue ...The same applies to fools and idiots who keep worshiping the statue (and inside telling themselves that they do see the what the stone is hinting at) and then being mad at other cults or religions that use a different book and a different statue or no statue ...

Which version of hinduism are you talking about ... Do you really know what the essence of Hinduism is? How do you conclude someone loves Hinduism or someone is the hater of hinduism?
If I kiss the ass of the pujari and the idol, do I become a hater or the lover?

Okay SS I know that you are an old timer at EC. You have contributed a lot by writing here on EC, nevertheless I'll lke to warn you. If you say anything contrary to the 'Pai' guys beliefs, which are neo American, you can get banned. Yes BANNED. Thats the way things work here on EC these days. It's simple. There will no longer be debates or contrary views you HAVE to comply with the wise guys.
Look there are two types of people here on EC.
Category 1
These are the people who try to show how modern they are. I mean they cannot show you their GC or passport unless they scan it and post it here which they believe will help in making others feel they are superior, since they are now naturalised American. So what can the poor losers do? Simple. Type in language that Americans (Eddie Murphy types) would supposedly type. That is an indication that they try to give, so that guys like you and me feel that they are so superior. But then they are losers and therefore just like everywhere else they fail here too.
Category 2
These guys are extreme losers they do not work hard even at typing in so called American lingo and fail. They copy the highly secular guys on NDTV,IBN Live etc and bad mouth Hindu feelings. This they feel will set them apart and people will start to appreciate their 'different' approach to traditional topics like wishing each other on Hindu festivals etc. So therefore by abusing Krishna, they tried to show how modern they are. It's a different matter that you did not understand their pathetic attempt at it.
I'll give you an example. When a boy returns from a big city back to his Dalit dwelling on the outskirts of a village dominated by upper caste people he displays his modernness by wearing cheap street side pair of sunglasses. The other people in the dwelling are so poor that they could not afford even loin cloths so they start to appreiate this guy and the city returned boy becomes an instant 'Govinda' of their dwelling. No matter if he did not even bother to remove the golden sticker which was stuck at the corner of the sunglasses and read 'Bon Ban' instead of 'Ray Ban'.
The wise guys here on EC have the same mentality of our city returned Govinda. They imagine that they are different and they expect us to appreciate them. But little do they realise that too indeed manage to become a US Govinda but amongst educated and well read Echarchans.
:punch:
In any case Happy Janmashtami to all!

Landybhai ,you were trying to become superior by supporting smelly in his comments on the janmashtami.
Needless to say ,both of you were unnecessarily making comments on the thread which was started by Premi in simple faith.
For one thing ,smelly should not have made fun of the simple faith of people in god ,in whatever form ,be it a marble idol.
Even I am a nonbeliever , but I dont make fun of other peoples belief in god .
And Landyabhai ,why are you starting an argument over this ?
This thread is no place to make such arguments ,considering that krantikari's religious feelings ,and those of other believers would be offended.
I know that many threads are derailed here , but here peoples belief in god is in question , so there is no need to support smelly on this one.

Easy everyone...why are we all arguing here? Lets take this some where else. Premi has started this thread with so much love for Lord Krsna. Lets share our memories.
When I was a little girl, my mom used to dress me up like Lord Krsna. She used to make me step into a plate filled with rice-flour paste and I used to walk from the front gate to the Puja room with my tiny feet imprints. She used to say that it resembles Lords entry to our home.

if someone's belief can be offended by a remark about the statue rather than about the God, then I must say only God help them ...
You are right, I am not trying to be superior, but it always happens with debates like this, that implicitly the ego becomes superior ... So I apologize on that behalf ...
I havent started any argument about religious feelings ... kranti can go and show his flip around and somehow bring it back again .. may be somehow hurt religious feelings are compensated for, if they are returned in a totally unrelegious way ... that is what we Indians have been all along ... but then that is not a discussion in this thread (although I dont mind) ... there is nothing on echarcha manifesto that says threads should follow their course and ofcourse God's threads (which God himself doesnt care to protect) should also be protected ...

VikingPai ... there is another category that you forgot ... The "All" category ... somebody does not have the balls to stand on his own might and in this scenario, they use this "all" approach .. that is how Indians have inflicted so many religious violence upon fellow Indians ... None of them have seen God ..but yes, if they were standing alone and would want some support, the first thing they do is "Islam Khatre Mein Hai or Hinduism is getting hurt" ... They cant say, I am getting hurt because they know if someone says I am getting hurt then the problem lies with the person ... He should investigate ... But such a mentality that believes in following the crowd instead of questioning them has lost its ability to introspect within ... Hence it is so easy to beat up someone by forming a crowd ... there is no guilt, no morality needed ... nothing ...
So, I hope you can tell me which category you belong to ... I know I cannot be categorized ...

You tell me, if you are celebrating your birthday, how does it matter to you that we are discussing how your photo looks like? Isnt celebration a more of family affair ... Why do you seek public approval or disapproval? Here I am (not we) not even disapproving that today is not Krishna's birthday OR saying that you guys are all idiots to celebrate it in this way or that ... Nothing has been said like this ...

Thats how most organized religions are, isn't it? I mean Christians have done it too... They attach people's sympathies and moralities to the belief system of their religion... everything seems so logical and comfortable to the people... then they take full advantage of it. Socrates' story is so famous where he said things (his philosophy) which wasn't liked by the rulers and went against their diktat to control people and governments. No wonder he was a dangerous man to contend with, hence was eliminated.
I was reading Osho's biography recently and he seems to have met the same fate. It is quite obvious he was transforming people of their beliefs, something the American govt could not let continue. So they injected him with some unknown slow poison.

First things first ... those of you who wish for mods to delete objectionable posts in this thread ... please don't. Don't encourage mods to intervene. Don't give them so much power. You should in fact discourage such action by mods in all fairness to us members and our freedom to express opinions as we deem fit without fear of harassment. Please refrain. I wouldn't like it if someone edits or deletes my posts without obtaining my permission first. You can ban Tantric Yogi if his crap becomes unbearable ... but don't you dare touch his bullshit posts. :) Vikingbhai ... not one id has been banned without due discussion often involving few non-moderator but old time members ... you are being unfair.
I can understand where :) Smellybhai is coming from ... with all due respects to :) Premibhai ... I did find photo of marble statue a bit disparaging and aesthetically not very pleasing ... sangmarmar is not a Hindi word ... I have never been to visit Taj Mahal (for the love of lord Krishna ... its a bloody mausoleum and not a temple) but I normally see such stone inlay work on marble replicas of Tajmahal ... Lord Krishna has blond hair ... I didn't know that. Lord normally is always seen sleeping on a wooden palna.
Having said all that ... but and being a Hindu ... I share sentiments of Krantibhai, Vikingbhai, Sainikbhai, and Ashdocji and the rest ... I don't care for the religion of Smellybhai and Landyabhai but why is it so difficult to be sorry for having hurt our sentiments? I have never once seen Landyabhai say sorry but shouldn't be too difficult for Smellybhai?
:) Landyabhai is unraveling himself. I have offended him many times, but this is the first time that he has offended me with his comments in this thread ... I know because I make it a point to catch each word he writes. It seems he has finally joined us in the basement for we couldn't reach his heights. Spitting on Krishna statue was an unnecessary comment ... served no purpose whatsoever.

See if I were not a mod, I would be labeled as an old-timer taking the luxury to say whatever I want ... But then I can also say the reverse, being a newbie you are taking the luxury of typing whatever the hell you want ...
But using these allegations which are vet far away from the debate at hand, seems very maturuish and political ... like the comment made by Jr. Bush ... If they are not with us then they are with them and since they are with them, they belong to the axis of evil :D
I can understand where :) Smellybhai is coming from ... with all due respects to :) Premibhai ... Lord Krishna has blond hair ... I didn't know that. Lord normally is always seen sleeping on a wooden palna.
Lord Krishna has not been seen by any of us ... I dont see why it should matter if he sat on a wooden palna or a platinum palna ... these are outer details ... we focus on the outer to loose what actually was supposed to change in our inner .. but then all of you are free to lash me on this last statement in the name of philosophy or mental acrobatics ... but the question is still the same:
Isnt it weird that belief is supposed to be taken irrationally in the name of faith but other things like money, loan, etc are supposed to be rationalized, reasoned and what not ... Also the thing with belief is that: it is rational for anyone who has a belief to condemn in the name of irrationality the other who is questioning :D
Having said all that ... but and being a Hindu ... I share sentiments of Krantibhai, Vikingbhai, Sainikbhai, and Ashdocji and the rest ... LandyaBhai is unraveling or raveling ... it does not matter ... It's just a username and the person behind that username is trying to find what HE is NOT ... You are free to imagine yourself putting him in any basement or gutter or on the water-tank of the cooperative society ... It shoudnt technically matter to him ... and even if it does, it is as good an observation for introspection (for him, of course) about who he really is?
Peace. Jai Ho.
Jai Sri Krishna. May Lord Krishna bless us with wisdom he so freely shared with Arjuna.
Bhagwan ne ab talak nahi suni ... Naa toh unke bhakt itney peaceful dikhte hai ... Just a statement about the marble statue can cause a disruption in one's peace, then how much worthy is the pseudo peace that comes with chanting and beating the crap out of non-believers ... In any case, that peace also does not last long :D

Smelly , there is no need to insult anybody's god on a holy day of his religion.
Sure I have said many things about islam ,but I am not going to interfere if a muslim starts a thread wishing '' happy ramzan id '' to his fellow muslims .
I will have the decency to to simply keep away from that thread , and let the muslims wish each other .
For arguments between religion and religion ,there are other threads , and on a forum like echarcha ,we can have plenty of mudslinging on those threads.
Why spoil the holy day for many people , when it is a intra-religion matter and not between two religions?

Smelly , there is no need to insult anybody's god on a holy day of his religion.
Sure I have said many things about islam ,but I am not going to interfere if a muslim starts a thread wishing '' happy ramzan id '' to his fellow muslims .
I will have the decency to to simply keep away from that thread , and let the muslims wish each other .

How is an insult on a holy day any different than an insult on an not-so-holy-day?
AshDoc Bhau, an insult is an insult ... You dont get away if you dont do it on a holy day or on a thread which was supposed to be used for discussion and not exchanging pleasantries ...

Since the abolition of that law, your posts, instead of kicking ass, just make you look gayer and gayer. Meaning (and I have to explain the meaning as we have some idiots who go around giving -ve reps) your posts no longer kick ass... they seem a lame attempt at kicking... ever seen a gay attempt to kick someone... yup, like that.
I dont understand SaneBhau ... you are trying hard ... As I told SSPai, if cant help yourself to see the post then ignore that fucker ... I mean at that time, that fucker was me :rotfl:

Ashdoc bhai, its not for you to judge who is insulted when and where. You cant have it both ways. Either you rise above the mudslinging or you get immersed in it. You should be ready to get as good as you give.
Can you imagine a rapist saying "but your honor, i didnt rape her on her birthday"? :D Thats just a weak argument. :D
In fact, if we cant make fun of anything that offends anyone, then we cant have any fun. Simple as that. Everything you say will be offensive to someone else.

Being from a Village I must say you are 500% right :D:D. Most of Bhaiyas working iin Bombay do this. They come back in Red Colur shirt, white pant, splurge money, exhaust money and then pick up fights with their neighbours and then run back again to Bombay :)
I will comment on the types of folks I have seen in Mumbai.
We have a small stall near our apt. bldg which sells bread, eggs, paan, cigarettes, soap, etc. Its run by a Malbari. His younger brother works in the Gulf. Whenever he returns he will have very flashy and gaudy clothes, ill fitting sunglasses which make him look funny :D
As for folks on EC - I dont think there is any one or two types. All of us are here with our own unique style.

There is ajoke to this occasion by Osho ...
Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh had dropped his body. When he arrived at the entrance to Heaven, St Peter was waiting to usher him to a special tribunal which had been set up to indict him on charges of sacrilege, heresy, libel, slander, defamation of character and obstruction of saints and Masters in
the performance of their work.
’Listen,’ whined Jesus in a nasal Jewish voice, ’this goy told the whole world that I was a four-foot hunchback with a st... stut... stutt... stutter. And he made uu... uu... up di... dirty jokes about Mmm... Mother and the Holy... Gggh... Ghost. And now nobody can take me seriously anymore!’
’That’s nothing!’ shouted Mahavira in his thick Bihar accent. ’He said that I was squatting to shit when I became enlightened, and that I was a sado-masochist, covered in lice and dirt, and had the foulest breath in the whole of India!’
Buddha, remembering to stay upwind of the Jaina teerthankara, butted in quickly. ’This... this... this crazy bloke had the impudence to say that he was putting my wheel of dharma in motion again. Just when it was gaining speed in America and Europe, this Rajneesh comes along and sticks a spoke in my wheel, stops it, puts it into reverse and then says that he is carrying on my work!’
Adi Shankara, speaking for endless rows of rishis, paramahansas and yogis, approached the witness stand next: ’For countless ages the saffron robe of the sannyasin, his austerity and chastity, his poverty and his renunciation of the world were universally respected. Then this charlatan destroyed all that in seven years! Now they are driving around on motor bikes, smoking and drinking, womanizing and having fun! They call it meditation. And they call themselves by the most outrageous names: Swami Veet Pete, Ma Sachchakhanda, Swami Wolfgangananda. This Rajneesh has made a mockery of our religion!’
The Holy Ghost was called to the witness stand. Of course, since he was not a person, only a presence, he could not speak. But he made his presence felt by loud thunderclaps and earthquakes. It was made clear from this, said St Peter, that the Holy Ghost was really pissed off with the accused.
Mother Teresa was the last witness to appear for the prosecution. ’I have only this to say: I spent my life trying to help poor helpless cripples like that man there,’ she said, pointing to Jesus, whom she did not recognize. ’This Rajneesh mocked my efforts. I say he must be given the Ignoble Prize for all his many sins. I speak on behalf of Jesus Christ and the Polack Pope!’
The judge, God himself, asked Bhagwan if he had anything to say in his own defence.
’Perhaps a few jokes...’ said Bhagwan tentatively.
’I see you are beyond redemption,’ said God, a certain malicious glee now creeping into his face and his voice. ’I hereby banish you from heaven for all eternity and cast you into the seventh hell!’
’Thank God!’ cried Bhagwan joyfully. ’For one dreadful moment I thought you were going to tell me to stay here! Now I can be with my people again!’

In fact I would even say that forget about religion ... Nobody in this whole wide world wants anyone to tell the other that you are wrong ... I dont know whether you are a programmer or not, cuz the profession I am in needs a GCC compiler ... when it fails to compile, I cannot do much except fix the code ... rarely compilers have issues (although that is not as absolute as the scriptures are believed to be) ... what if instead of a compiler, it was your manager ...
thank God, it is not like that ... anyways too much sutras for you today ... did you enjoy the joke, it was for you I posted ... I know you dont like them ... but change the name ... Replace Adi Shankar by Mohmd and replace Bhagwaan Shri Rajneesh to Krishna and the joke would still work ...

now this is really laughable kranti-pai ... seems absurd that in the heat of an arguement, a person with borrowed knowledge of hinduism can come up with such original jokes ... if only you were to discard things that you took from outside, I am sure we would have had fun ... the original krantipai, born, knows nothing about anything ... looks strangely yet surpringly in wonder at the world and its workings ... thinks what is this uuut-pataanga going on? smiles and shares it ...
Now that would be something different instead holding someone's neck and saying "bolo Islam kubool hai kya" as if the person asking the question and the person listening to him both came with this knowledge when they were born ... I would want to see this being done in the ward by newborns in the hospital ... now that would be funny ... Imagine this whole thread being argued upon by babies just born ... One saying to the other, "How dare you say Krishna cannot be represented by a white marble statue ... Say sorry, you have offended us"

The ones in quote are not mine ... hence quoted .. the rest are just ramblings ... no academic exercise to chappofy a research paper ... a way I looked at the world and posted it here ... nothing significant I realize as days pass by ... because the inner is still a mystery and is not at rest either by reading scriptures or by coming up with it myself ... if that is the case, you wouldnt have felt offended and I wouldnt have posted it here ... The person who should have got offended should have been Krishna and the person who should be bajoing us, should also be Krishna ...
But amazingly, His joy or displeasure is not dependent upon you and me .. hence He does not bother ...
The rest fools like us are just expressing some form of disatisfaction here in some way or the other ... You are offended and I am not ... both are the same thing ...
Anyways that is philosophy or in your words sutras ...

It is like this scenario where the monkey is given the stick ... either the monkey realizes that he is a monkey and cant behave as a man or the stick is just a stick and he can do whatever he feels he should do with the stick ...
I am sure we both are related, we dont seek public approvals of what we believe in ... we dont get offended if the public feels otherwise ... our faith is on ourselves and is not based upon someone's conjecture of approval or rejection ...

anyways belated happy janmashtmi to all. I dont know what it is all about and how exactly it is celebrated. I am an ethist but dont know all these nitty-grittys of my religion :)
coming back to thread and my opinions about it (I know they dont matter)..
If melly comments something then its his problem (if at all)...why are people making a huge cry on what he should believe in and what he should not or what he should say and what he shouldn't...he is free to express his opinion here. Period! (culprit:kranti pai)...also melly should keep his witty humour out of threads that are meant to exchange greeting and wishing people on festivities atleast....tomorrow if he goes to 'happy birthday' thread and comments like ' are you guyz celebrating your birthday or that your dad had an orgasm (and your mom was ovulating) or that you licked a few inches of your moms vagina before entering this world' type of statement...he cannot equate religion bashing on other threads with a thread meant to exchange wishes...but having said it..I still feel he is free to express his opinion. (culprit:melly)...and landya...you are a phd in technical domain...also you read philosophy...I am sure you must have read and 'understood' this book 'tao of physics'...I need not say anything more...too much of anything is bad...saneless pai...well...I just wrote a blog entry on 'swine flu'...why dont you go and break your head there and not between religious and philosopher master-minds here! how about some more saneless musings..;).

when freidrich nietche (spelling?) was asked about his purpose in life..he said that 'he wants to say in a single sentence what people say in an entire book'....what he meant was that 'speak less...choose your words carefully,...craft them even more carefully and present it utmost carefully'....if you are a fan of osho then you should read this philosopher too because 'god is dead...' if afterall his creation and not osho's!!!
all in all, to see universe in a grain of sand is what your aim is (I feel), right? If you think any philospher or philosophy books can guide you into that then you are going aginst the very principle of spirituality (according to me). Truth is a relative term. What you are doing is to realize truth by condition your soul with loads of knowledge and information coming from printed literature and coming from people, who you think (again relative), are enlightened!. What you should be doing, according to me, is to find 'truth' in smallest and the most irrelevant things and build 'your own' understanding towards them. On that day I will start reading your posts when you say something like...'my understading about the 'backspace key' in my keyboard' without quoting philosophers and eastern philosophy to reaffirm that you are going in right direction. Observe 'bhateejas' poo and look and understand it in a totallly new way is what you should be aiming from your immediate surroundings right now..unclutter your mind from what all 'acquired' knowledge you have and inject a new life in your soul :D....
Damnn....my understanding about philosophy is that philosophers actually never wanted their thoughts to take form of book or intended to propagate 'their' thinking because a true philosopher knows that his thoughts and every soul is so different from one another that 'one size(read book) doesn't fit all'....infact it cannot be a training material also to train a mind to attain nirvana because mind, soul, nirvana etc etc are absolutely relative terms!
Find your own path.....

I can speak on behalf of admin and team of the mods ... we got too much respect for our members. This is one of the few if any sites where a member can join and abuse the team for doing their job and yet continue participating unhampered. Not one id has ever been banned for abusing admin or the team. Last banned member was because he appeared to take liberty with one of our fine female member ... we never hesitated.
And the matter of editing and deleting of the posts ... nah ... we have discussed it among ourselves and there was no disagreement ... that edit/delete of posts is an insult to our good members ... exception being use of derogatory language unbecoming of gentlemen.

Spriteji ... you know the answer and yet you wonder?
Spriteji ... just consider quality of fine membership at this site ... give me one member who is not worthy of our respect? Give me one. Good people ... all. Be proud ... we are fortunate to be thick with some of the best and the brightest of India. Fine membership.
As far as bullshit goes ... consider this:

I totally agree with you (as always)...:)
The question I asked about moderators has nothing to do with this thread as I feel that moderation was not at all required in this thread. It was a general question which I wanted to ask for a very long time now out of curiosity. I remember melly was once our moderator and later when people took over the reins from him, he was promptly relieved of his duties. Nothing against anyone at all but why the normal procedural protocol was not followed is my question?

Yeah I can guess that after reading all the replies!
Why earlier moderators were not relieved of their duties before adding new ones? sainik bhau is not a moderator anymore, right? why others were not removed before passing on the duties to new ones? that is why new onez were inducted, right?
anyways belated happy janmashtmi to all.
(culprit:melly)...and landya...you are a phd in technical domain...also you read philosophy...I am sure you must have read and 'understood' this book 'tao of physics'...I need not say anything more...too much of anything is bad...saneless pai...well...I just wrote a blog entry on 'swine flu'...why dont you go and break your head there and not between religious and philosopher master-minds here! how about some more saneless musings..;).

absolutely nothing wrong fact-wise when I said that your are product of your dad's orgasm or reg the comment I made about child-birth but one should know what to say when and under which circumstances. Not every truth (relative term) needs to be presented at the most naked level, at wrong time and situation :)

when freidrich nietche (spelling?) was asked about his purpose in life..he said that 'he wants to say in a single sentence what people say in an entire book'....what he meant was that 'speak less...choose your words carefully,...craft them even more carefully and present it utmost carefully'....if you are a fan of osho then you should read this philosopher too because 'god is dead...' if afterall his creation and not osho's!!!
His is a statment based on folks like us not on what the universe is all about ... folks are dead in mind, they dont seem to use their mental capacities that nature ordained .... from that perspective i.e. psychological perspective, he thinks we are dead and so is our creator ... He was no into meditation ...
And I am fan of anyone who is willing to breaks beliefs and assumptions ... be it Vivekananda, J. Krishnamurti, Dada, Osho, Eckhart Tolle, Raman Maharishi, Aldous Huxley, Ashtvakara, Jnaneshwar, Kahlil Gibran, Budhha, Krishna... many more ... here folks label things as philosophy when it questions their mental assumptions and from that perspective, what would be the biggest outcome of philosophy, an unwavering faith that gathers its faithfulness from the size of the crowd and even one person questioning can make folks angry ... Mind you it is not responsibility to question these folks ... I have not taken the onus, for I myself is/am ignorant ...
all in all, to see universe in a grain of sand is what your aim is (I feel), right?
So many times, I had that "Aha" moment, where I realized that I know now what the reality is really ... only to realize that is still my mental conjuration ...
If you think any philospher or philosophy books can guide you into that then you are going aginst the very principle of spirituality (according to me). Truth is a relative term.
Words can only guide folks to war or an absence of war (i.e. pseudo peace) ... words have never liberated anyone ... And truth is not relative term ... if you say the Sun exists, it exists ... you may call it Sun, or others may call it surya ... our saying or not saying doesnt change the truth .. A truth that is relative is a lie actually ... for if you see only lies need the help of other lies to keep it standing ...
I understand where the relativity comes though ... the observer and the observed upon ... there is a relativity from that perspective ... truth is peeling the lens through which the observer sees ... that is to say what the observer is NOT ... He is definetly NOT his ego ...
What you are doing is to realize truth by condition your soul with loads of knowledge and information coming from printed literature and coming from people, who you think (again relative), are enlightened!.
Actually, conditioning would be applicable, if I were not make myself avail to any questions ...
What you should be doing, according to me, is to find 'truth' in smallest and the most irrelevant things and build 'your own' understanding towards them. On that day I will start reading your posts when you say something like...
The truth cannot be found unless the seeker know who in reality is the seeker ... I used to have understanding about many things only to realize that they were like castles made in cards ...
Plus, I dont mind if you dont read my posts ... The idea of creating "one's own" (which again is relative meaning "your own" v/s "others") is a very futile attempt of the ego to come through the back door?
I know what your next question will be?
then why make an atempt to critic here? Yes that is also my ego ...
'my understading about the 'backspace key' in my keyboard' without quoting philosophers and eastern philosophy to reaffirm that you are going in right direction. Observe 'bhateejas' poo and look and understand it in a totallly new way is what you should be aiming from your immediate surroundings right now..unclutter your mind from what all 'acquired' knowledge you have and inject a new life in your soul :D....
Never looked at the backspace key with that much awareness ... I realize that once I look at it that way, there seems to be less of words and more of backspace and me ... the samething with the poop unless ofcourse, it is a stinking one ... cant meditate on that one ;)
Yes you are absolutley correct ... hence these words dont matter ... what matters is where do they lead you ... and from there on, it is a personal quest ...I read somewhere words like "a finger pointing to the moon" ... most folks get stuck with the beauty of the finger and dont look at the moon ... most get stuck at the moon and dont understand what it really means or is hinting at ...
Actually, since we are debating, I feel that there was no need in this thread for anyone to get so bogged down and angry ... I didnt (well except to username, he got it in the end, Sorry) ...anyways thanks!

I know where you are getting at but that is again Krishna's problem to deal with ... I am a Krishna Bhakt as well ...(not an adamant one though) ...
It was not mentioned that Krishna is born from Taj Mahal or Kutub Minar ...both are wonderful structures though ... Let me give you an example ...
Have you been to borivali's Jain Mandir ... there is a huge statue of Bahubali Bhagwaan ... you go there and see what is odd there ... I see nothing except now I realize what about those Kabootars that Shit on Bhagwaan's head ... Why are they excused? Now tell me, is this analogy any closer to what I did or melly did here? ofcourse you will say no ... for they are kabootars and we are humans ... but the fact remains, kabootars and statues are alike from one perspective, that is they are lifeless ... A kabootar may still shit on a live person (although that is unlikely) .. but again a live person will respond back in some form or other but one thing he definetly needs to do, is clean the shit ... I dont see that we have offended Krishna ... I dont see the statue technically representing Krishna ... if someone's faith = Sigma (of the way statues can be misrepresented by others), then why is it other's problem ...
Even a Michaleangelo wouldnt bother if his statues were misrepresented by the masses for he is only sole person who can understand what feelings are there in that statue ... A true believer does not care about such outer misrepresentations ... not that I am a police to check everyone's feelings just as the other shouldnt be either ...

A true believer does not care about such outer misrepresentations ... not that I am a police to check everyone's feelings just as the other shouldnt be either ...
There is another example of Meera one of the most devout lover of Krishna ... She did not bother what were the current trends of worshiping Krishna ... She did what she wanted to ... She was considered an outcast, ostrasized and what not by other so-called-faithful-believers just because she was not following the rules laid down by sages before her ...
But that did not stop her ... and ofcourse the other folks later had to stop and had to accede and now they consider her the greatest bhakt of Krishna ... Now I want to ask what happened to their faith when they acceded ... Also, who went with a formal application to these folks that please forgive Meera ... History does not mention that Meera bothered ... for what relevance is such faith of such adamant believers in the eyes of Meera or for that matter Krishna ... (not even 2 paisas ...) ... and tell me know what relevance is that to Meera (not even 2 paisas) ... She never cared before, so why bother now ...

But statue is of Lord Krisna ... noh? Even a stuck-up Smellybhai has seen it right to apologize for his post. You couldn't even do that?
What good are your ego-squashing teqniques if you don't practice them? I mean ... you are supposed to be bright light of shining submission in the pitch darkness of human weaknesses and sexual perversions. Practice what you preach ... noh?
You have hurt our feelings in so many ways that I can't even find the words to describe.
You know what Landyabhai? I would rather get my lessons on celibacy from a catholic priest rather than hear you lectures on benefits of controlling my urges from you.

Apology to whom ... Krishna? He never came to me asking for apologies ... the rest followers, I dont think they deserve an apology to keep their faith intact ...
Also, my apologies are worth two cents if it makes other people suck up to their faith

I did not preach anything about human weakness and sexual perversions ... to each his own ... I did not propose any ego squashing exercises ... And yes I am not seeking an community approval that my ego has now reduced by 25% and is reaching zero :D funny if I would seek it ...
You have hurt our feelings in so many ways that I can't even find the words to describe.
I have not hurt anybody's feelings ... folks that are dogmatic about their faith should have atleast thought that they have handed over their keys of self-respect to the pujari and to those folks who are dogmatic about other faiths ... cant help any of them ... my words of apology would be like the TARP funding that Obama proposed ... bailing out folks who screwed the economy left and right in the hope that they deliver on economy ... folks looking for an apology should search it elsewhere ... I havent said anything that should cause the skies to fall ...
You know what Landyabhai? I would rather get my lessons on celibacy from a catholic priest rather than hear you lectures on benefits of controlling my urges from you.
If you need lessons as to be human enough, please listen to your urges ... Landya used to get succumbed to those and then feel all guilty and then had no option but recite the hanuman chalisa 108 times only to succumb to the urge again ... The priest will give you nothing except another mantra that should help ... it has not helped the priest ... will not help you either ...
How sad ... we used to look up at you.
Please dont look upto me ... I dont look upto myself ... there are no standard expectations that I keep revising with every new year in the name of resolutions ... It is a waste of human intelligence for it is wasted on repenting and other such non-sense ...

You fail to recognize Lord Krishna in me ... in you ... in all of us. Lord is as much in you as he is in marble and rock statutes. Unlike you ... I am no good at putting in words what I have discovered for my-own-self-alone ... let me try and explain ...
Lord manifests. Lord dwells within. Lord is in all of us ... Hindu or Muslim or Sikh or Issai o rock or stone or statue or a holy book or a poor man sleeping on the foothpath.
You are not to be sorry for offending a piece of marble ... all you are is accepting his presence ... recognizing the existence of a supreme force which dwells within us all and our inner-sense and what we believe to be a representation.
Ofcourse ... its just a piece of marble ... I am not so stupid as to argue with you ... but within that piece of marble resides a people's visualization of acceptance ... sentiments and beliefs. You don't honor marble ... you honor those who see it, feel its presence in the proximity.
One can never reach peak of spiritual crescendo ... not till one learns to accept and recognize the presence ... be it a man, a mouse, or a piece of rock. Landyabhai ... a Jain by beliefs, I thought you should have discovered by now ... you don't search for evidence ... you will never find one ... because there is none ... lack of proof doesn't prove non-existence and you of all the people ought to know. Why am I telling you all this?
You are looking at a piece of marble ... I am looking for and honor those who have discovered him through that piece of stone. Great souls ... they must be who believed and felt the the force ... great souls indeed.

Recognition of that force (by way of faith) has resulted in what great achievements, can you please enlighten me?
Because from Childhood, I have been seeing these forces have been use to level other's ego and that would still have been OK, if blood was not spilled on the streets ... What you want me is to recognize the fact that such a recognition has led to a better human being? If that is the case, why cant people settle in their own betterness, why hasnt it lasted ... I will tell you why?
because now they want recognition ... people are not content with the fact that they can visualize the supreme being inside the marble statue ... actually somewhere I read that is a good thing ... contentment leads to false perception that everything is good ... actually it is not contenment, it is convenience ... if the convenience calls for doing prayers in morning and evening with some flowers sprinkled on the statue, it carries an appeal .. for one just needs to do it once or twice and then do whatever the goodness that arises from it ... seems like that goodness never arises ...but the convenience does not stop there, we need to use it to forgive ourselves using this same convenience ... again goto the temple recite some shloka or go for a dubki in gangaji and everything is fresh as new ... convenience ... hence the problem because you cannot have a number of such conveniences all doing different things to get the end result ... jaan chudaana ... no one wants to dwell inside ... there is no need to ...
That is why I was saying what good is this apology (mine or theirs) if it is done by way of this convenience ... Would anyone here care to drop murder charges or a horriendeous crime if it were to be done to one of our loved ones, ... I am sure no one ... So why is it that when it comes to religion, we all want to conveniently do what is complacent for us ... There one needs to sacrifice oneself (read ego) to know what truth is ... but of course there blood doesnt call for blood, water is OK with some flowers ... outside rituals in the hope of gaining what? (You know the answer)

Finding too many question in one simple answer is a form of ego trip or is it oversimplification I indulge in? Overload of knowledge ... perhaps?

Wash it in gangajal ... burn 100 incense sticks in it ... garlands of roses ... piece of shit floating in the river still represents nothing but smelly, disgusting, stinking waste material.

Not in this thread ... Landyabhai cant have last say because everything he has said so far goes against very grain of readings ... ones he has been quoting for five years.
Leads me to believe ...
;) Landyabhai works in local Information Center where he gives away the maps to curious tourists who are on the way ... to next stop ... City of Awareness. And he has never been there but wishes to visit some day at a convenient time.
or
;) Landyabhai has read and studied all the maps ... but has not yet bothered to check spare tire and pouch of tools in the boot of the car ... so as to be prepared for long journey ... bound to pass through some rough roads. Reading maps is all he has done so far ... journey is yet to begin. He hasn't even taken the first step.
:whacky:
and now I am out.

How do you know it Yogijee ... you be my guru ... slash my ego with one extra clean sword that you keep (just for me) ...
I know I have not yet started walking ... the reading is so pleasurable ... the mental openness or the canvas on which the world sometimes draws upon you is so exciting at times that I feel there is nothing else in life to look for ... ofcourse this does not last long and one is then pulled back into the nitty gritty and shitty details of life ... isko maro, uski khujao, apni bajwaao ... sab kuch ... I am just waiting for that day when this also becomes an enjoyment ...
