I was so happy with Windows XP with SP4. I dont know why I upgraded to Windows Vista 64 bit Ultimate Home Edition on my home laptop.
The problems are
1) On IE8 I cannot use GMail properly. Any file I attach takes forever, or most of the times it fails and I get an error from GMail saying - Oops there was a problem.
2) On Google Chrome too the problem is the same as with IE8.
3) On FireFox 3.5 the problem is the same
When I use Yahoo Mail, I see the same problems with file attachments, though the file gets attached most of the times than in GMail. Tried all three browsers and I see the same issues.
Is there any way to fix this?
I promise I will never ever do anything stupid like upgrade from Windows XP to Vista or Windows 7. I will do whatever penance is required to save me from the wrath of Microsoft Gods!
Please dont tell me to reinstall Windows XP. I have installed some 64 bit apps on Vista.

But ek saal mein... in fact, in a couple of months, Windows 7 will arrive... then no more problems:up:
I delayed buying a new PC till then...

Somwar ka vrat shuru kar ko Sutradharji...
I suggest fasting on 12 consecutive Mondays and organizing a havan to pacify the Microsoft Gods.

Unless you bought Vista recently. It depends when Echarihci pai and other echans have bought Vista. I think I read somewhere, if you have bought Vista or a new PC preloaded with Vista in the last couple of months you will get a free upgrade. Don't know the details as I was not interested.

I still have my student account at my university .... even my wife has ... will buy it for 20 bucks .. the problem it will be an upgrade CD/DVD not the full blown OS in DVD ... And god knows how upgrades are going to work on an already screwed up OS ...

Okay here is what I did -
1) It is a Vista 64 bit Ultimate Home Edition.
2) I have applied all the Microsoft updates but the problem started before that.
3) I have the Norton Home Firewall. I have disabled it too.
Steps
1) Open Google Chrome browser.
2) Log into GMail
3) Compose a email to someone
4) Select a Microsoft Word 2007 file to be attached to this mail message
5) Click Send
Expected results: Email with attachment should go.
Result: The file never gets attached. The blue progress bar remains incomplete for infinity.
Note: I even Googled for this upload problem and it was suggested to go to GMail settings and change the Upload Attachment feature to BASIC. I did that. Despite this, the same problem persists.
1) Open IE8 browser
2) Perform steps from 2 to 5 as above
Expected results: Email with attachment should go.
Result: The file never gets attached. The blue progress bar remains incomplete for infinity. With BASIC Upload Attachment selected, the file never gets uploaded.
Try with FireFox browser, similar problems persist.

Cha, I just verified on Vista 64-bit ultimate on Firefox ... It works ... I am not sure what might be wrong ... have you enabled the basic scripting like java scripts on your browser ... I am not sure what technology they use to show that progress bar with google or yahoo when one is trying to attach a document ... seems more like a browser issue than Windows OS ...
How about download opera browser and try again... BTW the size of the word (2007) document attached was 48KB
