Guys,
For saving an image from website, how do you set the browser default for format.
I save the copies of checks from Bank, because Nowadays banks do not send you cancelled checks back.
If I use I.E., the images are saved in Bitmap format which takes up lot of space.
And If I use F.F., the images are saved in JPEG which are 10 times smaller in space.
So basically same image with bmp takes up 4mb+, while jpg ofcourse less than half a mb.
And I prefer IE over FF for security reasons as far as banking is concerned, But takes up shit load of space on HD.
Can any smarty pant show me how I can set up JPEG as default for format for images saved with IE?;)

Assuming you're right clicking on the image to "save image as" or "save picture as," it always suggests the original file type of the image as a default option (and IE allows you to save the image as .bmp as well). Could it be that the bank uploads their images in different formats?
What's the bank name, account number and password? :smash:

When you do "Save As" while saving a picture file from IE, just type the filename (which you want to give) a period and type the extension as JPG or JPEG. This will force the IE to save it in the JPG/JPEG format.

Get your pc scanned & checked Amtha pai…
I had this same problem earlier in my XP OS laptop. All images saved from IE used to get saved only as *.BMP. Even if I typed the jpg extension, the darn file would still get saved as bmp. Later it turned out that my pc was infected by some Trojan stuff. I had to get my pc formatted then & the problem was resolved.

But why ... why would you want to do that? Be happy with what you got. God in his wisdom gave you what he thought you will need to challao kaam. Appreciate what you got. God gives you small images ... so be it. I got huge one doesn't necessarily make me any happier ... on the contrary.
Be happy. Don't compare browsers.
