I am not able to boot my xp image. I get the famous Windows Blue Screen complaining of the following:

"STOP: C0000221(Bad Image Checksum)
The image oleaut32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum."

I remember installing some crappy Kaplan GMAT software on the computer ... It must have corrupted this dll in my Windows/System32 directory ...

I dont understand why microsoft allows 3rd party applications to access protected system files ...

Anyways, currently searching on google to resolve this issue ...

Anyone got this before? Any idea how did you resolve it ...

Thanks.

I read on another forum a possible fix. Boot up using the installation CD into a repair console and rename the .dll file and then copy over the .dll file from the installation CD to your system 32 folder.

Here's the DOS command:

COPY \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE\oleaut32.dll \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\oleaut32.dll
