how are you Bhai loag....
coming here after many days...was a little busy...I need a help...
While coming to US next month I want to break my journey in London for a day or two. My travel agent says that I dont need to apply for a UK visa...they'll give me a transit visa at UK airport after seeing my ticket. Some of my friends say that one has to apply for a transit visa in his/her country only...
Is my Agent trying to dupe me? What about luggage restrictions...Can I alight at UK without paying penalty for extra luggage under these conditions?

Depends on what kind of Visa you have for US!
Are you coming on visitor or business visa to US? then yes, better get it from India.
Are you coming on greencard? Then go ahead, they will give you one at London Airport.;)
About luggage....All contries have their own rules. But you are going to US, so you have to follow US rules. (Ofcourse, consult Airline first).
Yes.
Most of the travel agents are idiots in India.
My 2 cents, now everything is on Internet as well as its easier to find out from local consulates too if you are in Bombay or Delhi. Go and ask them.
And above all, as Indorie said, why take chance? Get one in India.

Last time I travelled to US was on L1-B. While going to US, I stopped in London for a week and I took a business visa from India. Boss yeh Angrejo ka bharosa nahi hai. Idhar se hi visa le lo aur shaan se London ghumo.
