Mumbai bomb blasts: 7/11 accused spill the beans

Enemies within (Muslims offcourse:rolleyes:) had international terror links. No longer do you have to guess 'whodunnit?'

Two people who were detained in connection with the July 11 serial train blasts in Mumbai have admitted to having links with international terror groups.

The revelations came during scientific tests carried out on them, Anti-Terrorism Squad sources said on Wednesday.

The brothers, Muzamil Sheikh and Faisal Sheikh, arrested after the July 11 bombings have admitted to having links with international terror groups during the scientific tests carried out on them at Bangalore-based forensic science laboratory, ATS said in a remand application.

The agency was seeking an extension of the custody of the two before a local court.

ATS chief K P Raguvanshi said, "I cannot give more information. We have said whatever we had to in the remand application." Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said the investigations into the July 11 train blasts are at a "concrete stage" and the perpetrators of the crime will be brought to book in eight to 10 days.

why blame the islamists. We have hindu traitors within our midst who for some dough can kill their own brothers. And these were people in high posts. I say fukin torture these aholes to death so that it serves as a lesson to other desh drohis.

Mumbai's first taste of terror was a culmination of the biggest one-time smuggling operation through the sea route India has seen.

A whopping 5,000 kilograms of RDX, hand-grenades, detonators, AK-56 rifles, magazines and automatic pistols were smuggled through the obscure and rocky terrain along the Raigad coast between 2 February and 8 February 1993.

Obscurity, of course, suited the brains behind the plot fine. It also helped that most of the foot-soldiers were smugglers of gold and silver and robbers and, at worst, murderers who had never participated in terror.

It also helped that the brain behind the blasts, Tiger Memon, knew the western coast like the back of his palm; his years as a smuggler had taught him that.

Provoked by the January 1993 riots, in which his Mahim office was burnt down, he met ally Dawood Ibrahim in Dubai and hatched the conspiracy.

By the end of January, their agents had identified customs officials and policemen who would assist them in smuggling the explosives into the country.

The chargesheet submitted to the court states inspector Jaywant Gurav actually piloted the vehicle, carrying the explosives, in his own car driven by Uttam Potdar.

Vijay Patil, then Shrivardhan police station sub-inspector, was also involved. Police intercepted the vehicle that was transporting the consignment at Gondgha Phata, checked it and then allowed it to resume its journey to Mumbai and then to obscure godowns in Byculla and Mumbra.
