I remember the early days of cell phones in Mumbai, India. Only couple of companies had the cell service - Hutchison Max and some other.

The cell phones were like 'bricks' by today's standards. Then came the sleeker phones. Then came the tiny ones.

Then came the PDA phones.. And today you see more and more functionality crammed into the phones. What I have observed is that the phones were first very big, then started becoming smaller and smaller. And now once again they are getting bigger, albeit with more features. To have all the new PDA type features, you cannot really make the phone smaller anymore. Yet, people want more features or rather the phone companies want to cram in more. Given this trend, I think one day we will be lugging around a laptop sized phone :D Circle completed! :D

Tell me how many of you use all the features of your phone?

I explicitly go for a simpler phone. The only 'advanced' features which are in my simple phone (and I could not get a simpler one) are a camera and MP3 player which came by default.

I wanted a simpler phone, but felt that a camera would be fine. MP3 player? Huh.. I have not yet opened the Apple iShuffle I received for participating in some office activity.

Your'e talking about liking simpler?

Man, I even hate flip phones.
I like straight, no flip, no sliding kindaa phones.

I have camera and mp3 player on maah phone but never used the mp3 player. Its Flip  .....phone...yeah, cause was free. So got that one.
Used camera few times and loaded ringtones. other than that Nope. No other features I used yet.

features were the only reason why I bought a Sony ericson W810i ( USP - walkman phone ) last to last december and a nokia E61( USP - PDA Enterprise phone with 16 million colours and a large screen ) last April , but till todate didn't really get the time to use all it's features and I guess buying these phones at 16K and 20 k that time was a sheer waste of money .Today the one from Sony is coming for 10K and the one from Nokia is between 10 and 15 ( duno the exact price):(

Inspite of all this I dunhno why I am eyeing the Nokia E90 Communicator .It was launched at 45k , sells now at around 34K and I am waiting for the prices to drop further till around 18k ( the price at which the earlier communicators 9300 , 9300i and 9500 were discontinued)

I have really no idea why do I waste money on phones and why don't I dispose the older one before buying a new one.I still have with me all my 17 mobiles which I have purchased since July 2003.They are just kept as a show piece as selling them for peanuts is too cruel a thing for me to digest.:(

Ok let's see here...What I use on my iPhone

Browser - cant complain about a full-blown browser...use it on the 'throne' everyday to check on news etc...:D
Email - must have
Organizer - all my apptments go here
Stocks - must have
Weather - just before getting out of the house, to decide whether to carry a jacket or not
Camera - very handy when you forget(avoid) to carry your SLR
Maps - again very handy when the GPS gets lost or we need to find places of interest nearby...with triangulation now, makes it even better
Alarm - goes off every morning
iPod - watch most of the movies in instalments

And then there is the ultrasexy phone.

I had a very old fone . eint (brick) bolte the sab log .

i had to change the fone for a reason . finally did for a built-in mp3 player . ipod ke paise bach gaye . and its sleek too

Its the Nokia 6300 . if u just get used to the fact that the battery drains pretty fast , its a cool fone to own.
