I think of skin. For example people from the Northern Hemisphere have lighter skin so that they can absorb more Vitamin D when Exposed to sun.
While people from the southern hemisphere are darker. With more melanin pigments to block sun .
I dont know the purpose of Chinks having slits as eyes?

What purpose does eyebrows serve? (http://ask.yahoo.com/20010820.html)
It seems the consensus is that eyebrows are there to keep the sweat and rain out of our eyes. Try running a couple of miles and having salty sweat run down in your eyes. You'll appreciate those little caterpillar-like things.

It is all about evolution. Everytime a human (or any specie) procreate the offspring is a bit different than the producing adults genetically. Sometimes the differences may be pronounced or sometimes nature may just play a trick by having an extra appendage (like different tones in skin or eye colors or having an extra finger).
Now one may ask why we find overwhelming number of yellow colored people in china with narrow eyes or predomínantly dark haired and dark pupiled indians or largely dark colore african with curly hair or light haired and skinned europeans. The answer is that current populations we see in the region were started by small groups of people who were of course must be markedly different to begin with, these traits are largely passed over to subsequent generations. Also geographical sepration (mountains and oceans) separate the populations from sexual interaction and help in enhancing the differences.
Just remember that nature is playing dice with your genes incessantly, sometime a new gene gets created due to external factors like radiation, viruses etc or inherently due to spontaneous mutation. Some of these traits will get passed over generations to create markedly different sets of populations we see. Many species perish too leaving blunt ended branches in the tree of evolution, some make it today, some perish.
If the differences get too pronounced, then two sets of population may become too different to even procreate and we will have new species. But remarkably some species remained as they were since million of years like the Living fossil Tuatara a lizard from dinosaur age to be found in new zealand.

One more important factor which although does not contribute to evolution is the process of natural selection.
It will allow only the most successful of species who can withstand the local environmental conditions to continue without getting extincted or assimilated. By assimilation I mean individuals with undesirable traits may not be succesful in procreating or avoiding predators or tolerate the vagaries of nature.
So in that respect Cancer yes, overlong times we have selective sets of population over different regions, provided they don't interact much.

Pick up any biology or physiology text to understand why we have different skin colors. It is because of different skin pigmentation which gives us the skin color. For example, Albinos have no color, so to speak, because they lack the skin pigmentation required to give a color to the skin.
Q.E.D. :)

One thing I always wondered is howcome Indians have more body hair than their European/N.American counterparts. You would think since its hotter in India, we would have less body hair.
Anyone know why?

You seem to not browse the web or do not have any classical training in basic biology or human anatomy.
But that should be on no concern as I am here to answer questions. Remember, there are no stupid questions, just dumb answers :)
Let us leave humour aside and focus on your question. The answer is pretty simple.
Just as skin cells contain varying levels of pigment that give people different skin color, cells in the iris of the eye do too. The number of pigment-containing cells and the amount of pigment each cell produces—which are inherited traits—determine a person's eye color.
Q.E.D. :)

Eye shapes not color. Oriental eyes?
An original explanation via Dhurmon sense (Dhurmon sense == Dhurandhar's common sense):D
They have slit eyes because once upon a time they must have lived in Tundra (for a very long time) where snow reflects the sunlight. Note that when you are faced with intense sunlight or reflected glare you will naturally want to close your eyelids to avoid glare:D
Also, note the similarity in eyeshape and eyelids of Mongoloids with Eskimo folks:D

Dhurani pai, theory pe theory jaadthe ho aur phir delete kar dete ho :D
Anyway, there is an advancement to your "glare in the eye" theory, that your Dhuranimon sense suggests causes different shapes of eyes. The period of this earth is so big and evolution has advanced to such a stage that all oriental eyed kids (chinese, eskimos, nepalis etc... etc...) are in today's world born with their eyes closed. Then after a few days, their moms then take a blade and slit their eyes open so that they can then see. The wound such caused then distorts their eyes so that's why you see all these crooked eyes and all :D

For a change your answer makes some sense. I too thought of the same reason.
