Samsung has officially launched its new super-small PC, dubbed the Q1, that is essentially a cross between a laptop and a PDA. It lets users write on the screen, play movies and games, and stay connected to the Internet through wireless Relevant Products/Services from Verizon Wireless hotspots.
The paperback-sized product weighs less than two pounds and has a seven-inch display with touch-screen capabilities. It runs the Windows XP Tablet PC operating system and is among the first new products based on Microsoft's highly anticipated Origami platform.
The Q1, priced at $1,099, will go on sale May 7 at Best Buy and at other retail outlets.
Samsung sees the Q1 -- which technically is called an Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) -- as being a digital business companion for mobile professionals who might want a little entertainment to help them get through red-eye flights and long layovers.
