Just check this. Good news for females(and for the guys who have sisters) A court in Delhi has convicted a man for cheating a lady by promising to marry her. I think it is a good move.

Its bull shit to convict someone on breaking promise or wanting to marry someone else if already promised to marry one.
But i support this casanova's convistion because under the garb of promise he has taken undue advantage of the woman and taken some money from her. any case he should not be convicted for breaking promise but for assaulting the woman and fraud.

Don't worry Surya ji,
Nobody said they are planning to sue if you can not keep a promise in a honest relationship. It is against those romeos who like to change (rather taste new) girls daily. So you can go ahead with your plans(if you were making any) ;-)

What if a girl makes a promise and backs out?

the judgement says it is equally binding on all irrespective of sex.

So why is the good news only for girls and girls' brothers?

because, girls at least in India do not sexually assault and fraudulantly take money from men under garb of promising to marry.

seriously if the girl is stupid enough to believe in promises and do something, it should be considered her own stupidity. why wasant she wise enough.
and BTW, why should it be a good news for girls, situation is more often than not, the other way round. even girls cheat guys.
just for breaking a promise which has no legal base convicting someone is rather ridiculous from my POV. the girl should have been smart enough.

Rising Bhai,
My sincere apology if you felt offended, but there was no personal attack intended. I was just explaining my view that I was not saying that this applies to those who back out of a sincere relationship due to some serious reasons. That's all.

Just answer one thing,
There were a lot of cases where some smart enogh people paid to some thugs for jobs in Gulf countries and got cheated. If that is a cheating, why this is not? Only b'cause u could have been on the recieving end in the first but only benefit from later???? And as for other way round, as risingsun mentioned, the ruling is applicable to anybody without discriminating for sex.
