Fabricated cartoons worsened Danish controversy
The controversy over the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed is expanding, as more Muslims join the boycott and protests against Denmark and various European newspapers decide to publish the cartoons, mostly out of solidarity with Jyllands Posten and to make a strong political stand. One issue that puzzles many Danes is the timing of this outburst. The cartoons were published in September: Why have the protests erupted from Muslims worldwide only now? The person who knows the answer to this question is Ahmed Abdel Rahman Abu Laban, a man that the Washington Post has recently profiled as “one of Denmark's most prominent imams.”

Last November, Abu Laban, a 60-year-old Palestinian who had served as translator and assistant to top Gamaa Islamiya leader Talaal Fouad Qassimy during the mid-1990s and has been connected by Danish intelligence to other Islamists operating in the country, put together a delegation that traveled to the Middle East to discuss the issue of the cartoons with senior officials and prominent Islamic scholars. The delegation met with Arab League Secretary Amr Moussa, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Mohammad Sayyed Tantawi, and Sunni Islam’s most influential scholar, Yusuf al Qaradawi. "We want to internationalize this issue so that the Danish government will realize that the cartoons were insulting, not only to Muslims in Denmark, but also to Muslims worldwide," said Abu Laban.

On its face, it would appear as if nothing were wrong. However, the Danish Muslim delegation showed much more than the 12 cartoons published by Jyllands Posten. In the booklet it presented during its tour of the Middle East, the delegation included other cartoons of Mohammed that were highly offensive, including one where the Prophet has a pig face. But these additional pictures were NOT published by the newspaper, but were completely fabricated by the delegation and inserted in the booklet (which has been obtained and made available to me by Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet). The delegation has claimed that the differentiation was made to their interlocutors, even though the claim has not been independently verified. In any case, the action was a deliberate malicious and irresponsible deed carried out by a notorious Islamist who in another situation had said that “mockery against Mohamed deserves death penalty.” And in a quintessential exercise in taqiya, Abu Laban has praised the boycott of Danish goods on al Jazeera, while condemning it on Danish TV.

Agasti pai, nowhere in the thread does it say that the imams drew the picture, so the title of the thread is incorrect and brash. Please change it. Whatever you say of the people of peace, you cannot credit them with this kind of slander, else they will not remain people of peace :D

What some more fun? These cartoons were republished in a leading Egyptian newspaper way back in October 2005.

Please change the Title of this thread.. We can have all the religious differences we want but such misleading titles amount to libel..

What makes Echarcha a great site is that everybody has a right to express their opinions however diverse, but misleading titles like this are not in a good spirit...

Lack of education and awareness and a total single track devotion to the religion cause such rmours to spread and become real facts!

I read too that many mullahs and mosques did a false propaganda and added a few more cartoons which were far more insulting but were not drawn by the Danish cartoonists.

Agasti pai, even though the above sentence implies that the mullahs fabricated the additional cartoons, these cartoons (especially the pig one) were drawn by others at other times. All the mullahs did were bring them together and present them as being drawn by the Danish cartoonists. Of course, all this does not matter. Or would not have mattered at all except for the blind folly of the people of peace :)

I wan to ask all the lovers of peace and these imams and mullahs a few things.

The West and the rest of non Muslims are supposed to be 'tolerant' and 'sympathetic' towards Islam. Fine. We understand.

Non Muslims are supposed to 'respect' Islam and not make fun of it. Agreed. Your religion, your rules, your freedom to follow your religion. No problemo.

In short all others are supposed to 'respect the freedom of Muslims to practise Islam the way they seem fit and as per their Koran'. Fine. Totally agree. Freedom of religion guranteed!

Now my questions -
1) When the Shite and Sunni's fought with each other and they do fight and blow up each others mosques (e.g. in Iraq, Pakistan) then why dont the same imams and mullahs issue fatwas, hold angry demonstrations, burn down embassies of Pakistan and Iraq and threaten to boycott the Muslims there?

2) When other religions are hurt or people of other faith are killed by acts of 'terrorists' in the name of Islam, then aren't other religions being bashed, trampled upon and is it not a 'blasphemy' to not allow others to live?

3) Where were the imams and mullahs when many Jews, Christians and others were killed and thus not allowed to follow their own religion on 9/11? Why no protests then?

4) When a female reporter is held hostage in the name of Islam (recently in Iraq) then does it mean that Islam allows killing of women? I used to believe that in a battle field if a man faces a man with a sword and the best man wins, then it is a accepted victory. But where do women folk come into the picture? So isn't one of the cartoons correct which depicts that Islam has a blindfold on its eyes, when it comes to women's rights or women in general?

5) If the West and others are supposed to respect Islam then should Islam not respect others?

Why the double standards?

I agree with respect of religion. But I dont agree to these double standards where we are always supposed to respect and accept Islam the way it is and then suffer terrorism in the name of Islam because we are 'infidels'.

If a mullah or a learned imam can answer atleast one of the above questions then I think I can be more open minded about Islam.

How about taking some of the questions I have asked and asking a mullah or imam to answer?

Hope I am not just bashing but am asking some legitimate questions.

.
brother ...unfortunately i do not know any imam/mullah. Or else i certainly would have fulfilled your wish.
For you people , all other people who ask for little restraint/sanity during troubled times are imams/mullahs or terrorists !
let it be.
Frankly ....i dont have answers for any of the questions you have asked.

Sutradhar Ji there are 100s of questions but lets go into most fundmental ones .
The book of cult says filthiest things about those who worship idols . Cult of pedopehila was spread by breaking all the idols in kaaba , that was place where about 300 arab tribes used to come for pilgrilamge , darshan and cirumanmbulation.
book of cult says never make Jews and Christians your friends.(inspite of calling them kitabis , pepole ofthe book)

Very fundamantal of this cult is rooted in abuse of other's faith
