US gives India Rs 44 lakh and Rs 500 crore to Pakistan
New Delhi: The US has offered Rs 44.3 lakh aid to India and Rs 500 crore to Pakistan as emergency relief funds. Incidentally, India had given American Red Cross Rs 22 crore for relief activities after hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans.
US Ambassador to India David Mulford while giving Rs 22.15 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and the rest to victims in Jammu and Kashmir, said, “On behalf of government of the US, I offer my deepest sympathy to those affected by the earthquake and the families of the victims.”
According to Home Secretary V K Duggal, 947 people including 71 defence personnel died in Jammu and Kashmir and 30,000 people are feared dead in Pakistan.
India offers Pak help
Meanwhile India has offered help to Pakistan, Duggal said. But sources pointed that Pak would not accept India’s offer. It was unlikely that Pakistan would want Indian soldiers in Gilgit or Muzaffarabad district, home to several terrorist training camps.
However, instructions have been passed to army outposts at the IB and LoC to maintain strict vigil to ensure that no militants sneak into the country.
Terror camps damaged
According to reports, training facilities of terrorist organisations were severely damaged in Muzaffarbad, but the home secretary declined to comment.
Sources say five training camps were destroyed in PoK. Camps at Chakothi, Muzaffarabad, Kahuta and Bagh, Kotli and Nikial, were affected as well.

we have refused international aid!! this is a source of pride for us
pakistan's need is greater than ours at this time and they have rightly got more money from the international community.
and the people in pakistan controlled kashmir are learning the hard way what the government of pakistan really thinks of them. the response has been appalling, to say the least.

Money in millions of hundreds of millions of dollars will be pouring in to Pakistan to help rebuild lives of the survivors. What is US doing to make sure all these donations dont end up re-building destroyed terrorist training camps?

I am so sure that this will be used by Pakistan to first rebuild the terrorist training camps. Its just their nature...
After that they will first ensure that the money goes towards buying more arms from China and anyone else who will sell them missiles and other such things to be used as a threat against India.

Totally agree. I hope US understands that all this money will really go to the very terrorists they are tyring to fight against.
Btw, what's the deal with 44 lakhs? ******i waale 44 lakhs is probably not even enough to cover 1 helicoper sortie. :D
Either don't give anything at all or if you want to give then give something that means something practically.

Report are that Pakistan will lose 80,000 lives in this earthquake and millions are homeless. This is time to show compassion for those who lost their loved ones and not to compare the aid package.

So what if 80000 are killed....USA didnt kill them. Those who died were known to harbour worst enemies of USA and India .Pakistan has collected billions of dollars from othet muslim countries for slaughtering Hindu infidels why it
can not divert thsoe funds ?? .Dont yu know that paki agents killed 10 Hindus in Rajouri in most gruesome manner by slitting thier throats in front of family members .It was within 36 hours of eathquake . And pakis are making massive efforts to push more criminals across LOC (http://www.dailypioneer.com/indexn12.asp?main_variable=front%5Fpage&file_name=story1%2Etxt&counter_img=1?headline=Jihadis~make~most~of~redeployed~Army) .Only a fool will think that pakistan will not use funds recieved from USA to train criminals who will be ready to kill Americans and Hindus .It was done with money collected for Afghan refugees and it will be done again.

Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri Pundits were killed and the survivors were driven out of Kashmir due to fear over a short peiorod of time. The terrorism was sponsored by Pakistan's ISI. Even your Congress(I) party has accepted this reality.
Should we show compassion for an enemy who has always been into terrorism against us and will get back to the same as soon as they recover from this natural disaster.
Strange how you can show compassion at the wrong time for the wrong people
