I would have quoted the Hindi proverb - "Der Aaye Durust Aaye" but cannot because what is the point of this apology now? He has said what he wanted to and now is trying to cover up.

The more apt proverb would be - "Jo boond se gaye woh Haud se nahi ayegi"
