inspired by a few posts in the "was jesus in india" thread i am interested in finding out whether the great hanuman really swallowed the sun or not.
some writings state that he did. others insist that indra stopped him just in time.
so what is the truth? can anyone throw light on this subject?:D

well, there are millions out there, are there not?
but in this context no, there is only one sun. legend has it that hanuman swallowed the sun and only regurgitated it after indra and bhrama( and other high beings like agni, etc) begged him to.
or did he?:D

bhai with regard to swallowing the sun there are no doubt many versions of the fable. but according to my recollection from childhood stories( and the link below) the consensus seems to be that hanuman did, in fact, swallow the sun and had to be begged by indra, bhrama and a whole host of other supreme beings before the mischievous little monkey released him:D

also found a link which says that hanuman did not swallow the sun and was stopped by indra just before he did
