Hi Guys,

I have recently installed RH 9 as dual boot with win 2k. Now there is a small problem of Time in both system started. I am getting wrong time in both the OS. I have tried to adjust time in both system, but found problem still occurs after rebooting.

In RH9,
it take localtime correctly while booting the system, but failed to show coorect time in graphics and shell mode. I have to setup time, after every restart of the system.

what could be the problem ??

Thanks in advance.

(ps. :- Battery problem is not there. I have replaced a new battery & found same problem is there)

Check whether you are using UTC or localtime. I guess in dual boot systems UTC time gives some problems.

To see above settings : Right click on clock and click "preferences"

Here's an article by one of the systems programmers on M$ as to why they chose to keep the realtime BIOS clock the same as the Windows clock (i.e.) on localtime, instead of UTC.

Personally, I think keeping the BIOS clock on UTC is the sensible thing to do, if you have Daylight Savings Time, but like the guy said, too many newbies don't understand the concept of UTC vs. localtime.

sorry guys,

I was busy in my work..

SS,

i have checked the setting & found that I am not using UTC . but one thing I found on my PC that , while booting & setting clocktime it sets to UTC.

I don't know how exactly it links to UTC ?

Guns bhai thanks for the link..
