I need some information regarding the MS admission application requirments.

The University here in USA requires "official enclosed transcripts" from the previous institution (India)from where I graduated.

Could anybody tell in detail what do they mean by transcripts???

Please help I need this information urgently.

Thanx

if I am not mistaken (and i have not done MS here but know many who have) then you need to ask your past professors, typically the Head of Departments in your past college in India to write about what you did under his department and what kind of a student you were.. offcourse he will have to write you were great;)

But basically this is what they need... But please verify with others in the know.

If I were to apply, I am sure a couple of my professors would gladly give it and say that It was good that I left the college.. good riddance :D

even i dont know much about education on the whole but is it not that you have to submit/send the transcripts much before you are scheduled to land in the US? that transcripts too form the basis for admissions?

Transcripts are your results..

Typically in India we have a percentage system, which is not understood over here. So you need to approach your college /university and far a nominal fee they issue transcripts in for your results. Here your marks are converted to grades to reflect the GPA (Grade Point Average) that Universities understand here. Your grades will be shown as A, B....and your total score for each year is indicated for all subjects and individually too. and an overall grade is given too.

If you need more info regarding the process, will more than glad to help you. Have been through it for MS and integrated Ph.D programs..

supergirl,

one thing more - the transcripts also indicate how many hours of study you had in a given subject - that is very important for the US universities as they work on credit hours earned theory.

Transcripts are your entire history of crappy academic work done during your B.S. ;-).
Okay, basically transcripts list all the courses you have taken, the year/semester they were taken, units attached to each course (if you had GPA system) and the percentage or GPA whichever applicable which you obtained.

These should be enclosed in an envelope. The envelope should be sealed using the university stamp. This should be accomplished in the admission & records office of your college.

Did my Master's here. Any more questions, shoot 'em.
