Lets make 'em Smileys smile.

The emoticons on this site can be improved. Most of the these smileys do not exactly convey the feelings that need to be conveyed. For example, the winking one ;) does not have the naughty expression that one associates with a wink. In fact it doesn't look like a wink at all. It's more like a contented smile. Same goes for red-faced. It just does not show the proper expression. The difference between the sad and the angry icon is just the color.

The best (i mean the really best) emoticons that I have seen are those used in Yahoo (Chat or Messenger). They are really really good. The emoticons for laughing, surprise etc. really make me smile.

Can we improve those on our site ?

We must have images that are small in size. When you use animated gifs or gifs with more than 16 basic colors, you are increasing the file size and consequently the download time.

The current smilies were oiptimised by another vBulletin user and posted for others to use. I am using those. The only bigger size image is that animated smilie:smash:

Yep, this ones from GM, too. I saved off all of the smileys, and use them in places (even emails and letters). Conveys the message a lot easier , sometimes..
