Guru Log,

I had a PC with OS 2K .

During my experiments I added a new NIC and chose some driver.
The experiment resulted in an "Unknown device" in the Network adapters in Device Manager.
But how do I get rid of the "Unknown device"?
When I try to Uninstall it I get the response:"Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to boot up the computer".
I get the same strange response even if I first disable the "Unknown device" and then reboot and thus showing Win2k that it was'nt required to boot up.
How can I force Win2k to let me uninstall the "Unknown device"?

I've tried to boot into safe mood (with and without network connection) and uninstall the device in the Device Manager.
Result:"Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to boot up the computer".

what to do ??

kuch madat karo yaar..

Thanks in Advance.

Delete Unknown device first &

Fix it on another port & install it again if you have exact driver for this card.

hii,
my call..NIC nikaal..and then try..booting and uninstalling the device..then fix card again...and install correct drivers...
OR
You can try reinstallin a driver for this new card ...the one that came with the card......and then try removing this unknown device....
bye.

best bait..
just download the driver for the specific card and install..else WIN 2k doesn't have NIC drivers built in system drivers.
No other solution

Do you know the brand name of your NIC. Perhaps you can go to the company's website and download the latest driver for your NIC :)
