The primary author of a report critical of Microsoft is out of work.

@Stake, a Boston-based computer security firm that does business with Microsoft (Quote, Chart), issued a statement Thursday that Daniel Geer, who presented a white paper Wednesday in Washington that said the government's increasing reliance on Microsoft desktop software makes federal systems "susceptible to massive, cascading failures," is "no longer associated" with the firm as its chief technology officer.

The man was not BSing! He was telling the technical facts!!

It simply means that evein USA being politically correct means saying what your boss likes and freedom of speach is an illusion.

technical facts toh koi programmer bhi tumhe bataa denga.

CTO should have a more business mgt approach and not act so naive.

Yaar Enron aur Worldcom ke example se kya seekha? Lies cannot take you too far. What was he supposed to do - be another Arther Enderson kind of guy? Hats off to this dude man!!

I guess his position as the CTO made him more vulnerable to being sacked. Any other employee's remarks would've been taken lightly. Again it is subjective as to who gets to see the door. Many a times people do publish sensitive papers and do get away with such things. Many a companies do business with Microsoft which does not go to say that Microsoft products are flawless. Maybe this company was way too reliable on MS, which is why he was gotten rid of. Not to worry, he will find sympathisers. But the Federal Government has started thinking now about its reliability on MS products esp Windows 2000 and has issued warrants to meet newer and higher security standards (esp after the SoBigg and Yaha worms).

bieng a mgt guy has to do more with having patience and trying to achieve your goals without getting sacked.
imagine Rumsfield coming out and speaking on how the Bush govt is failing and what are its weak points.
