Most of us stayed in collge hostels, lived as bachelors etc....... but what we all did in those times, was make some meal for ourselves. I would like us echarchans to contribute some of your favourtite recipes for the benefit of others. :)

Bawa what about dahi chaawal??recipe chahiye??The women on the board are busy preparing heady concoctions to knock out Gandesh and BG bhaiya so it has now come upon the males to suggest recipes??ram chandr keh gaye siya se ek din aisa ayegaa....aunty phatphati chalayegii aur uncle bhaji banayegaa

Langotji, aapne to mujhe embarass kiya.

OK Padhu try this simple Maharashtrian recipe "Phodnicha Bhat", which means tadka rice.

Cook plain rice and let it cool. Its even better if it is cooked the previous day and refrigerated.

Heat oil in casserole. When very hot, put mustard seeds, jeera, sliced green chilies and curry leaves (if available). Add finely chopped onions, turmeric powder, salt and a packet of frozen green peas. Cover and cook till green peas are done. Add the cooked rice, mix well and cook covered on low heat for 10-15 minutes. Eat with Raita.

Let me know how it turns out.

randheer...aap to humse kafi aage nikal chuke....hum ko to sirf boiled rice karna aata tha....woh bhi kabhi saale roomies kehte the ke tu rehne de.......hum chaval banenge...tu bartan dho dena........hamari to yeh halat hai.

At lastttttttt kisi stri ne to bistri(femake bistro) chaalu ki....thankyou netra ji main yeh try zaroor karungaa....bus yeh bataa deejiye gas kaise on karte hain....

Bawa chaawal ubaalna bhi ek kala hai....from rice krispies to chaawal ka halwa sabb kuchh banaa sakte hain iss ek hi kala se....

Randheer bhaiya ungli ka omlette aur Koyle si bread??kuchh yaadein taaza huin?

Girls are good at cooking,but surprisingly all the Big Five Star Hotels have mainly male Chefs,I am surprised at it

Langotji, buy an electric rice cooker. First class chawal banta hain. You just can't go wrong. My daughters knew how to use it since they were 8 years old.

Gas on karna nahi aata to electric hot plate kharidiye. Plug it in and turn the button to the required temperature.:D :D :D

Randheer bhaiya agar chef male hota hai to when he goes home uski biwi use ACHHA khaana khaane ko deti hai....abb agar biwi chefni hoti to apne aap padosan ki ungliyaan chaati jaayeingi

Netra...u r right......ever since i bought a rice cooker things got better. Now days its much much better as biwiji makes the khana....... in only have to rinse the dishes and put it in the dishwasher. Life has become a bit easy..... he he he

Abhi aap ke liye koi aur dhoondni padegi. Netra ji aapke view mai koi achi baratiya nari ho to langot ji ko bata dena.

Funny Putty

You may remember something like this from when you were a kid -- the floppy goo with almost magical
properties.
Here's how to make your own funny putty at home.

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon liquid starch (found in the laundry aisle)
Food coloring
2 tablespoons white glue
Plastic Easter egg or zip bag

Directions:
1. Mix white glue and food coloring together in a glass bowl.
2. Pour liquid starch into a second glass bowl. Slowly pour the glue mixture on top of the the liquid
starch.

3. Allow the the concoction to stand for 5 minutes, or until the glue absorbs the liquid starch.

4. Remove putty from bowl and knead. (At first the mixture may look as if it's a mistake -- but it isn't.
The more you knead the putty, the better the consistency will be.)

5. Store funny putty in the plastic Easter egg or a zip bag.


Ideas: Press funny putty down on newspaper comics or pictures printed with an ink jet pritner. Slowly
pull the funny putty off of the paper: the picture will transfer magaically onto the putty. You can also
roll your funny putty into a ball and bounce it!

ever since i have come here...i have not got to eat some decent desi food , even in a desi restaurant.

can someone please share recipe for my favourite palak paneer.

Recipe for palak paneer

1.apna eyelid(palak) todo

2. Ussey PAN ke harrey pattey pe dalo.

3. EER ko serve karo. (arrey wohi EER BEER(peene wali nahin) phatte peer)

hum kahin chalo humahoon palak paneer kahee aayein!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tum bhi kya yaad karoge - Amaze your wife with your cooking skills - you are in touch with me now ;)

Ingredients
=========
Paneer 200 gms.
Spinach (palak) 2 bunches
Onion 1 no.
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp.
Tomato 2 nos.

Milk ½ cup
Red chili powder ½ tsp.
Garam masala ½ tsp.
Oil 2 tbsp.+ to fry

Salt To taste


Method:
=====
1. Pick, wash and boil palak leaves in minimum water for about 8 minutes.

2. Grind boiled palak coarsely.

3. Cut the Paneer into cubes and deep-fry till golden brown.

4. Chop onion. Puree the tomatoes.

5. Add oil in a pan and heat. Add the chopped onions.

6. When the onion turns pinkish in colour, add the Ginger Garlic paste and chili powder.

7. Next add the tomato puree and cook till oil leaves the pan.

8. Now add the Garam Masala Powder and palak. Mix well.

9. Add milk and let it cook till it is of a thick consistency.

10. Add salt. Add the paneer just before serving.

Padhuji, meri view mein bhartiya naariyan kaafi hain, lekin unko poochna padega ke unko lal langot pehennewale mard pasand hain ya nahin.

Belna jiss se roti ko bela jaata hai.....kadchhi jiss se sabzi ko stir kiya jaata hai....lagta hai Netra ji aap badi safe type ki female hain because not knowing these tools means aapko nari ke sabse potent divyaastron ke baare mein pata naheen....

Waise kadchhi to pasta,ya risotto ya lasagne mein bhi use hoti hai...

Gaon switzerland mein kahaan se mileingay desi waale??so yahaan kisi ko kya malum what a langot is used for...for all the know it might be a sari that shrunk on first wash

Hindi filmon mein dekha hain. Pehelwan jab kushti khelte hain, langot pehenke hi khelte hain.

Any body know ..a good dish of KARELA ?? yeah ..bitterguard :)

only dish i generally find is just a Deep Frie of chopped KArela with some salt and mirch.

Any other dish possible with KARELA ???
